Vehicle Detail
1954 CHEVROLET 3100 5 WINDOWS PICKUP TRUCK with 235 motor and Hydra-Matic transmission. This truck, originally from Arkansas, is in very good condition and has an excellent patina for applying a clear coat cover. The previous owner claimed the mileage – 18,500K -- was accurate when I purchased it; I put another 5K on it myself before storing it three years ago in my barn. By the way the seat cover, old floor mat and the remaining interior looks, the mileage very well could be accurate. When I took it out recently and sanded the points and gassed it up, the motor started right up. The rare Hydra-Matic transmission shifts smoothly, it steers nicely, burns no oil and has great oil pressure. The floor and body are very solid in this truck. There are a few areas of fiberglass repair that I can see, left cab corner, left front cab and rear fender dents. The bed is plywood but has good cross members for a new bed. At some point the previous owner converted it to 12 volt and the starter grinds a little because it needs to be shimmed and I added rear coil springs for working around the farm. The cab back glass has cracks. The front, back, door and corner windows are okay with a touch of vintage fog in them. Tires are poor but with original hub caps and because it has been sitting for three years, the brakes should be fixed. Master cylinder leathers have dried out and it leaks. This is a really nice truck ready to be restored or made into a sweet rat rod.
