For auction by the original owner is a 1996 Saab 900 S two-door hatchback, scarabe green exterior and taupe interior, with 323,093 original miles. Built in Trollhattan Sweden, this is a very practical car, with the unique and quirky features that Saab was known for. Although this car needs some work (described below), this would be great project for a Saab aficionado or someone who loves to do their own work. This vehicle has a 2.3-liter 4-cylinder non-turbo engine. Options on this car above the standard S trim level include a 4-speed automatic transmission and a 2-way power glass sunroof.This vehicle was meticulously maintained and was serviced by the same dealership where it was purchased new. Although the engine and transmission still run beautifully, there are some items that are in need of immediate attention (listed below). Up until mid July when a new car was purchased, this car had been driven 70 miles round-trip each weekday to the seller’s workplace. The body is in generally good condition. Although there are no major dents, there are some rusted areas near the rear wheel wells and at the leading edge of the hood. The paint is in good condition on the side of the vehicle, but the roof, hood and front do show wear from sun exposure and from the sheer number of miles driven. The interior is in good condition. Items replaced within the past few years include: serpentine belt and pulleys, ignition distributor, windshield, brake pads and rotors (front), battery and starter motor, alternator, front struts, tires (less than 30,000 miles wear), motor mounts, fuel pump, A/C evaporator, and heater core assembly.Except for the (inoperable) driver-side seat heater, moonroof, and power antenna, all of the interior features and controls are operable. Known issues: Leaking power steering fluid from the rack & pinion unit.Muffler needs replacement.A/C sight-glass housing has small leak; system needs a refill of refrigerant every year.Driver-side seat heater not working.Power antenna not working.Power moonroof not working.Water pump may need replacing.
