Vehicle Detail

This is a rare 1937 Dodge 1/2 ton Panel that is often referred to as a "Humpback" panel because of the slightly raised rear portion that provides additional head room in the cargo area. I've owned this truck for about 30 years with intentions of restoring it, but I'm now in my 70s and realize that it will never happen. It has been stored inside the entire time I've owned it. BODY: As you can see from the photos, there is some rust in the lower body. The worst areas are: 1. Sheet metal will need to be welded into the lower panel body by the running boards. 2. The vertical piece that bolts to the body and running boards will need replacing, but it is just a flat piece of sheet metal with a 90 degree bend - very easy to make. 3. The running boards will need metal welded into them or replaced. The remainder of the body has some dents and light rust in spots. This vehicle is very restorable and is very complete. MECHANICAL: The engine turns freely and has spark, but is not running. It ran fine when I parked it 30 years ago. The gas tank is off the car but included along with a windshield frame and other parts in the back of the truck. Clutch engages fine and transmission shifts. Brakes will need total rebuilding. Speedometer reads a little less than 75,000 miles. Judging from the wear on the pedals, I believe it to be accurate. Pennsylvania titles its older vehicles with 99999 even though I specified the miles when I bought it. This truck was originally dark blue with black fenders and red wheels. Restore it as original with a red pinstripe and it would really be a looker. There are a lot of possibilities if you plan to build a street rod as these vehicles have a very unique look. You are welcome to come see the car before the auction is completed. Truck is sold as is, where is with no guarantees, warranties, etc. I can help you or your shipper load the truck. If you are the successful bidder, I expect a non refundable $500 deposit through paypal within 24 hours. If that doesn't happen, I will relist the vehicle. The balance is to be paid in cash or bank wire transfer within 7 days. NOTE: Please don't ask my reserve or what I will take for it if you buy it now. If you are interested in owning this truck bid on it. My reserve is very reasonable and will probably be met before the end of the auction. Bid high, bid often.... Thank you. On Jul-29-16 at 10:27:09 PDT, seller added the following information: I recently received this question from someone "The number you have listed (T38) is the engine number, which was often used on titles. There should be a serial number plate on one of the door jambs, or firewall with a serial number. Might you have this as it will enable me to get more information on the model, etc." I wasn't aware that the vehicle identification number was the engine number until I received this question. The T38 number is indeed the engine number. I cleaned off the number on the engine and checked it against the numbers on the title. Many vintage vehicles are titled this way. I guess that means the engine in the truck is the one it came with from the factory. The truck serial number is attached to the firewall and is #8169439. If you plan to make a street rod, my guess is that most States would accept a tracing of the engine number and the cowl number to convert the title to the serial number. That is much better than having a state assigned title which is common on street rods. On Aug-01-16 at 11:09:20 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to include in the description that there is a crack in the windshield (low where the inspection sticker is located) and the driver side window. Also, one of the windows on the back doors has heavy clouding at the bottom. This is all flat glass so most local glass shops can make new glass. If I was doing this truck, I would replace all the glass anyway. Its not expensive and will look much better. On Aug-02-16 at 03:04:21 PDT, seller added the following information: Even though my reserve is thousands more than the bid price right now, I've decided to lift the reserve on this rare truck and make it a real auction. So bid high and bid often. The next bid will take it off the reserve and when the auction ends it will be going to a new home. Please only bid if you are a serious bidder who can complete the sale. If you are the successful bidder when the auction ends, please contact me through ebay with your plans for completing the sale and getting the vehicle. If the buyer doesn't follow through by contacting me and making the $500 deposit through paypal within 24 hours, I reserve the right to contact the follow up bidder and offer him the vehicle. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but I've sold items on ebay before and sometimes people think bidding is a game and have no intentions of buying anything. On Aug-03-16 at 07:57:35 PDT, seller added the following information: I don't know if I'm getting all the questions that potential bidders are asking. Sometimes when I respond I get an email notice that it didn't go through. So, I'm posting answers on the listing so they can be seen. The windshield frame in the back is included. It is to replace the one on the truck now. Notice the lower right corner - it is rusted along the edge. Artillery wheels were used a few years until 1936. In 1937 they changed to the wheels on the truck now. They are correct for 1937. I will try to load a photo of a 36 (blue) and a 37(red), but don't know if it will go through. (See photos on listing at end.) On Aug-03-16 at 09:47:22 PDT, seller added the following information: I've had a few questions regarding the title. Yes, I have a clean Pennsylvania title in hand.
