1988 Mercedes Benz 560 SL This little gem has become one of the more collectible and desirable classic cars of our time. The 560 SL’s were only made for 4 years with the larger V8. It has a hard top and soft convertible top. It runs and drives great with no pulling when cruising or braking. This car demands looks at every stop light. It is one of the most stylish and sexy cars of the 80’s. I drive it at least 1x a week to work and every weekend a few times. Drive train –The motor does not leak anything or smoke. It has been meticulously maintained. Cruise control works and is just an effortless joy to drive. Drives straight as an arrow. It actually gets pretty decent gas mileage. As you may or may or may not know these 560 SL engines are known to run between 250k-300k miles. Bullet proof and this one runs great. Suspension – the front end has been rebuilt and it appears as if the brakes and rotors are relatively new. The tires have between 20-25k miles left on the tread. Interior – The dash, carpet, door panels and carpet are all in near perfect shape. All gauges work, power windows go up and down rather fast for the age. AC blows ice cold. Cruise control works. No weird dash lights. Everything is functional. The passenger side visor “catch” has been halfheartedly repaired, however you cannot see it behind the visor. The leather seats have minor cracks. I have elected to not change them because I like the character it gives the car. They are not ripped or damaged. The body and paint – are superb and id rate them a 9.5 out of 10. The chrome is blinding. There are a couple small scratches back where the hard top locks in place. You cannot see them when the hard top is on. The convertible top has a few holes in it, although the rear plastic glass is clear. The 560 comes with a new OEM canvas top which just needs installed. Install labor prices range from $500-600. There are no tricks with the car. Get in it and drive t across the U.S.A. Starts up every time and is a true joy to drive.
