Vehicle Detail
Thanks for checking out my auction. This auction is for a Mitsubishi built 1991 Dodge Stealth RT twin turbo all wheel drive sports car. The car is all stock, unmodified, and is in as-built factory condition aside from a K&N style air filter and a chrome y-pipe. The car is in very good condition, and it starts, runs and drives great. When I got the car, it had been sitting for a while and needed lots of TLC. Since then, almost anything you can think of on the car has been inspected, examined, repaired or replaced. Here’s the details: Timing belt and accessory drive belts are new, as are water pump, battery, spark plugs and fuel filter. The engine is a recent rebuild (not by me, though), and it has solid compression, tight clearances, and excellent oil pressure. The turbos are stock factory 9b twin turbos. The forced induction system and intercoolers are all factory and have not been modified. I replaced the fuel injectors with factory ones, and also replaced the MAF sensor, throttle position sensor, and idle air control valve. All emissions related equipment is present and functioning to my knowledge, including all catalytic converters and O2 sensors. The Getrag five speed transaxle in this car is truly outstanding. Shifts super smooth, works great, no synchro problems or grinding shifts whatsoever (which is a common issue with a lot of these twin turbos). Transfer case is in fine shape, too. I had the flywheel properly turned (two step) and put in a new clutch fork, clutch disc, pressure plate, and throw-out bearing. I changed the transaxle, transfer case, rear end, engine, engine coolant, and power steering fluids. I replaced the multi-piece drive shaft with a low mileage OEM one in excellent condition. Front wheel bearings replaced. CV joints/axle shafts in front replaced too. (The rear wheel bearings and cv axles are one of the few items I haven’t yet gotten to.) Front and rear brakes in good shape. Stock rotors. Parking brakes redone and new parts installed, including a parking brake cable. Tires are new all season high performance in correct factory size and mounted on original factory alloy twin turbo wheels (these wheels are great in that they act like fans to also duct cooling air onto the rotors, thereby cooling the brakes). Replaced the alternator, AC compressor and power steering pumps. Replaced the rear exhaust/mufflers with a really nice factory exhaust. Exhaust sounds great. Replaced the stereo radio/tape/amplifier/CD unit with an identical but fully functional factory one. This preserves the functionality of the radio control buttons on the steering wheel and deployment the automatic motor-driven radio antenna, and still gives great sound. Door and rear speakers replaced with new ones. Antenna cable replaced with a brand new one (the old nylon ones break). ECU (engine control computer) sent out and professionally restored with old capacitors replaced. Automatic climate control computer and display both send out and remanufactured. AC works fine and blows cold; heat is hot. Automatically holds whatever cabin temperature you set. Heater box replaced with new servos and new blower fan installed. Main instrument cluster and engine gauges replaced. Fuel tank and fuel pump and fuel level sender replaced. Rear deck lid support gas pistons replaced with new. New rear lift gate molding. Rear wiper fluid pump replaced with new. Cruise control computer replaced. Front wiper motor replaced. Rear wiper motor replaced (new OEM unit). Replaced the ignition switch, steering column electronics and driver’s side air bag. All lock cylinders re-keyed. New OEM drivers side main window and door lock switch replaced. New window regulators/power window motors installed. New factory window felts installed. Replaced headlight motors. Space saver spare in good shape and fully inflated; factory jack and tools included. New light bulbs in all exterior light fixtures (headlamps, turn signals, fog lamps, brake lights). (The rear LED brake lights on the rear wing even work on this car, which is rare!) Headlights deploy up and down correctly. Heated power mirrors adjust properly from the dash. Fog lights push button on and off as they’re supposed to. Interior overhead lights all work right. Power seats operate by console and seat control. Turn signals and emergency flashers work right. Glove box and console hinges are solid. Removable console located coffee cup holder is there. I pulled the carpet and interior out along the way and carefully inspected the floor boards and trunk. They’re solid and rust free. I could see no signs of accident history or body damage to the car. Here’s the only stuff I can think of to put on a “to do” list. I’ll include a download of the factory mechanical, electrical and engine shop manuals if you don’t already have them – they’re a great resource whether or not you ever work on the car yourself. 1. Paint – The paint looks good now for every day driving (as the photos show), but eventually you may wish to have a repaint job done. That was my plan for down the road. There’s a slight dent on the driver’s side rear quarter where the car pressed against a trailer when it was being transported to me some years ago, but it’s hard to see – check the photos of the left side of the car out -- in a repaint it would be removed of course. 2. Inspect EGR valve – I have learned to keep an eye on these valves on these cars; replacing them before they go out preserves good idle and smooth engine operation. 3. All wheel steering rear high pressure hose – it’s temporarily blocked off now/replacement hose and brake line is included with car 4. Driver’s seat upholstery – bolster leather is repaired and taped, but it’s easy to reupholster front seats over a weekend with hog rings and zip ties and this makes seats like new 5. Electric Door locks - need to trouble shoot them, even though I never use them on these cars, on this car they work but not perfectly 6. Cruise control switch – need to trouble shoot switch This car offers great value, and needs someone with the time to drive it, enjoy it, and dial it in. Title is clear, no liens. The car is being sold “as is” with no warranty. Indicated mileage is 54,000. This is not actual mileage. The car is in northern New Mexico. You can come drive it away, or pick it up on a trailer, or otherwise arrange shipping. I’m happy to work with you. Shipping/transportation is your expense, of course. Please ask questions before bidding. I'll do my best to answer them. $500 deposit via Paypal within 48 hours of winning bid or buy it now is required and is non-refundable. Payment in full is required within 7 days. Thanks!
