1953 Chevrolet Bel Air 4 door sedan. Barn find had been sitting for 20 plus years in a barn in the mid west. 6 cylinder 3 speed manual transmission ( 3 0n the tree) the car has little rust in the rear rocker panel area on both sides ( see pictures) the rest of the car is very solid with good floors, body mounts and chassis. The paint is weathered and thin with surface rust here and there, several minor dents and the 50’s era chrome is failing except for some of the upper moldings. The interior had been covered at one point so it is not has bad as some but will need work, the head liner is still in place with a tear on the front by the windshield visors. The car runs and drive as few thing were replaced to make it a runner: tune up, new fuel pump and clean the tank,. The brakes are still functioning, the fluid needing only topping of ,however, to be safe, a complete brake overhaul would be needed. I drive the car in town to run small errands once in a while and have driven it on the freeway up to 60 mph for 30 miles once in light traffic but would not recommend it as per the before mentioned brakes. It rolls on decent radial tires and I have an extra set of wheels The car has many issues as any unrestored car would, but it is running driving and stopping, not bad for sitting in a barn all these years. An inexpensive way to get into a 50’s icon. Improve as you drive or it would be a good base for restoration. Here are a few questions I could anticipate and could answer: Will it make a cross country trip? Being a 63 years old car and not being restored, I would advise to have it shipped or pick up but it is up to the buyer to make a final decision. Does it have AC? Early Bel Air’s were not offered with AC capabilities. Why are you selling it? I have other cars like any car enthusiast and I am restoring other vehicles so this one will become redundant soon. What is the reserve? Bid up to what you feel the car is worth to you, it is the best way to enjoy the auction; sorry I will not divulge the reserve. GOOD LUCK!
