2000 BMW Z3 2.3 Roadster. Purchased used at auction in 2007. Even then it was not cosmetically great but the white color hides a lot from a few yards away. See the pictures. It was always a great daily driver that I didn't fear to park in a lot. Relaxed 6 cylinder cruising car at highway speeds. They say a Miata is great to drive but I always found them tinny and buzzy. The Z3 feels a whole lot more substantial. Plenty of power and good fuel economy (25 to 32 MPH). And the trunk is very roomy for a car like this, not like a Solstice or Sky. Hemmings has a good article about the Z3 - search for Zed-Sled---1996-2002-BMW-Z3. I'm moving to a place with limited parking, so I need to sell a car or two. I've maintained it myself using 0W40 synthetic oil (BMW or Mobil 1). Over the years I've replaced tires, spark plugs, coolant, various sensors, all brake rotors and pads, serpentine belt, front calipers, hood hold down latches and cable, rear window (from emiata.com). Battery very new. What's good: engine strong. Transmission and clutch good (judders a little when cold). Power top works. Electric windows work. Power seats work. Power locks work. Electric outside mirrors work. What's not so good: needs front struts. I have a OE style "Stage 1" suspension kit from Pelican Parts, which I will sell separately. Engine doesn't reach proper operating temperature in winter. I have a replacement thermostat which I will include separately with the suspension kit. DSC light stays on (wheel speed sensor?). Leaks rain water at the top of the side windows, especially on passenger side. Driver side outside mirror is hanging loose on its cable (I had it secured with white tape). The paint on the trunk roundel is flaking (all roundels were replaced some years back). Top is original and looks it.
