1968 Mercury Cougar Xr7 - Original California Black Plates This is a project car. Though the metallic finish photographs well you will need to repaint as it's an older finish. And rebuild. The title for CA cars of this age don't include mileage but it's over 100,000. The interior is burgundy vinyl with the seats and ceiling in relatively good condition. Also wood panel interior accents. This car has a lot of chrome - bumpers, running panels, window trim, spoke type hubcaps and more. There are several body variations - Simple indent on rear driver's panel - Slight depression on front center panel curve between the lights - And a recent, right after I took the first round of photos, dent on the driver's door. It does open about half way to gain access. Worker just backed his truck up into it. Also minor rust around the rear wheel wells. The car hasn't been driven in a couple years. I made the attempt to start it but I wasn't able to get the engine to turn over. Though I did add some new oil to the cylinders. I don't want to attempt more aggressive methods to get the motor running. I also recharged the battery that was stored with the leads disconnected and it's holding a charge. The interior lights also come on so there is electrical life.The starter is making noise when I turn the key just not cranking. Stereo works. 'Flip up' type vacuum headlamps. 'Swing away' steering column moves up and to the right when you open the door, though currently stationary. I may have locked it in place but can't find the switch. Steering column also tilts. There are a number of switches and levers that turn on reading lamps and various accessories. The lighter is a kill switch, push it in to start.
