For Sale: 1996 Honda Accord EX 4Dr Sedan with H22A Engine Swap Three family owner car ALL maintenance records SINCE NEW 135,833 original miles Black with grey cloth interior with black cloth Lexus IS 200 sport seats 1998 Honda Prelude H22A Engine Swap (professionally installed 12/1999) H22A had delivery miles (came from a wrecked, low mileage 1998 Prelude when installed at 25,000 so engine mileage is approximately 110,000) Fanatically maintained by Ex-IMSA Race Engineer/Mechanic– no expense spared CA EMISSIONS LEGAL! California Air Research Board (CARB) emission compliance certificate granted 4/11/2013 My brother purchased this in 2010 after years of dreaming of performing a H22A swap into a Gen 5 Accord. Stumbling across this car on eBay, he was able to contact the original owner and the shop that did the swap in 1999 to verify that this swap was indeed professionally and thoroughly performed. Being and ex-IMSA race engineer and mechanic in the 90’s, he is extremely picky about the mechanical condition of all of his cars and this was the first ‘properly’ done H22A Accord that he had ever seen for sale. He purchased it sight unseen without haggling, bought a one way ticket to Albany, NY to pick it up and after meeting the second owners and seeing the car, handed over the certified check and drove it straight home to TN without even test driving the car. This car was my brother’s daily driver for three years and NO EXPENSE was spared in maintaining it. ALL of the maintenance records since new are in a very large binder that comes with the car. His family grew with the addition of a third child and he made the decision to sell it and purchase a station wagon to meet their new addition’s needs. How could he sell such a loved treasure you might ask. He ended up with a BMW 5-series, twin turbo station wagon with a manual transmission, so he clearly didn’t ‘settle’ on just any family truckster. This is the point where I came in to owning this Accord. I was looking for a reliable, daily driver myself. When I heard that my brother was selling his beloved, I knew that it was probably the most reliable and entertaining Honda Accord money could buy. I purchased this car from him in March of 2013. Like my brother, I purchased a one way ticket from Oakland, flew to TN, spent a few days and then simply drove the car cross country 2,500 miles to its new home. The only real work I had to do to the car was to get a CARB certificate for me to legally register and drive the car in California. The Accord passed with flying colors in April of 2013 and it sport the oh-so-coveted and rare CARB Compliance Plate. Since owning it, I have also spared no expense in keeping running as I relied on this car for my daily transportation. It is hard giving this car up – turning heads wherever I go, loving having how it handles corners and knowing that it is a one-of-a-kind car that has been pampered since the day it was first driven. Sadly, with my new commute over a Bay area Bridge and all the traffic it entails, I have come to the realization that I need a car with an automatic transmission. There is nothing needing immediate attention. Tires have about ½ of their life in them and it rides great, having replacing the struts recently. The only real bad - the passenger door lock is unusable with a key from the outside. The driver door lock opens with a key that is different from the ignition key – but the keyless entry works fine so this is a minor point and why I never bothered to fix it. Just recently smogged without a problem anticipating a sale – per California regulations. The first 13 pictures are current. The remaining pictures were taken at the time of the engine swap. The wheels that are on the car currently were professionally powder coated gloss black - they're the same wheels as pictured in the second set of photos - just black. They are 17" diameter, the best combination for looks, ride quality, reasonable replacement cost and durability. I tried running 18's for a while but they don't handle potholes as well as the 17's. All good things must come to an end and the time has come for me to pass this one-of-a-kind Accord to its next caring owner. My brother is handling the listing and any questions that you might have. The Accord is currently located in Oakland, CA. Buyer responsible for all transportation but know that you can drive this across the country with confidence. No trades – not interested in your stamp collection, Ford F100 pickup truck Resto Mod or your livestock. Cash talks. Notes on post auction:There will be a non-refundable deposit of $500 within 24 hours. We can then arrange a time for you to come and inspect and approve of the vehicle (I'm pretty sure you'll like it). If you are late, or miss the meeting I will assume you are no longer interested and you forfeit your deposit. We will travel to my bank and complete a bank transfer (wire transfer) of the remaining balance to my bank account, unless you pay in cash, in which case we will skip this step; I will not accept a personal check or cashiers check. We will visit a teller and not an ATM, so please schedule appropriately to complete this transaction. Finally we will take care of transferring the title and registration to you at the DMV.
