Vehicle Detail
The R129 SL600 is the last of the "built-like-a-tank" SL's, except this tank can haul as_ while dancing like a ballerina. I know these cars well since this is my third R129 SL600. These cars have exceptional build quality. This one is still tight with no rattles whatsoever. I am the second owner. I purchased the car about 2 years ago from the original owner at 65,000 miles. This was a California car since birth but has been in Pennsylvania with me the last 2 years. I have taken it through 2 winters. The car was in superb condition when I purchased it and remains so. The original owner obviously cared for the leather as it is like new in spite of 15 years in the California sun. And almost every surface is covered with leather in these cars - backs of the seats, dash, every inch of the doors, A-pillars, B-pillars, C-pillars, visors, roll bar, back window shelf, etc. I had it treated twice, too, in my 2 years. If you look at other R129's they have leather abrasion on the driver's seat outer bolsters, but not this car. All other interior bits are also excellent and show little to no wear. Car is mechanically excellent. When I took possession 2 years ago I drained ALL fluids - engine oil/filter, tranny, coolant, brake fluid, hydraulic suspension fluid, diff. fluid. I had the engine compression and the tranny clutches checked. No wear found. Whenever possible I use "Top Tier" gasoline, usually Exxon. Oil/filter is changed every 5,000 miles with Amsoil synthetic. This crankcase holds nearly 11 quarts of oil and during each 5,000 miles cycle barely turns a deeper gold color. This engine is VERY clean inside. Uses about 1/3 quart from the 11 quarts every 5,000 miles. Engine runs flawlessly and produces big power. Transmission shifts are crisp and silky. I have service records from my ownership only. Exterior is very good. No dings or scratches. Stone chips here and there have been touched up. Stone chips are worst at hood's leading edge, a universal problem with this car. It came to me that way. I added a clear bra to front of hood and front bumper. Car has both tops. I also have a driver's seat sheepskin cover that you are welcome to have, if you wish. Winter tires and rims come with the car. Flaws:1) Only repaint is upper right fender due to a 4 cm. scrape repair.2) One black wheel has road rash that has been touched up but not professionally.3) Center console armrest glove box lock kept sticking. I disabled it. Some parts below the armrest are not original to the car. So, why am I selling my baby? Just bought a 2016 Corvette. Going with a different ice cream flavor this time around...
