Vehicle Detail
This 1971 Datsun 240Z was in a covered storage unit for 25+ years, and in 2014 was put back on the road. The following has been done in the last 2 years. The entire braking system was repaired or replaced, including replacement of all rubber components and flexible hoses. New rotors with rebuilt calipers as well as new Nissan rear wheel cylinders (1971 and earlier only) and rebuilt correct early master cylinder, and of course friction material were also installed. The original engine was resealed and all engine and transmission mounts were replaced. The 4 screw carburetors were replaced with totally rebuilt units from Z Therapy. The engine has the original E31 high compression head. The fuel tank was professionally cleaned and all rubber fuel lines replaced. All 4 strut inserts were replaced with KYB Excel-G units with new strut cushions. The front suspension was rebuilt with poly-urethane bushings, including rack mounts. Drive line universal joints were also replaced along with new clutch, pressure plate and T/O bearing. New Konig 15x7 wheels were fitted with new Falken Ziek 205/60-15 tires. New front windshield and correct seal installed. New Nissan ignition switch and factory outside mirror. I have receipts for over $3700.00 in just parts. My plan was to auto cross with the car, but that never happened, and my plans have since changed. The car is a blast to drive. Now for the problems: The car was hit in the RF sometime in the last 40+ years and I have included a picture of where the sub-frame was repaired. The inside of the hood also shows damage (see picture). It also appears that the car went over, or up on, something as there is some evidence of this as well. Over all the car is otherwise solid and drives well, with no major rust issues, only minor surface spots. Both of the doors and hatch rubber weather stripping needs replaced. The interior is original and worn, headliner has some sagging. The dash lights, heater and clock are not working. The transmission has a very slight drip that wasn't discovered until the engine was re-installed. The paint was done in the 90's and while its shiny and decent, I don't believe it to be an expensive paint job. The rear hatch needs a replacement shock. Please contact with any questions you might have and I will do my best to answer truthfully and to the best of my ability. This is a 45 year old part of history with no warranty expressed or implied and sale is final. I will deliver to a local shipper to be shipped at your expense or you can pick-up in Boise Idaho.
