Up for auction is a 1978 Honda Goldwing GL1000. This bike is in excellent condition. I've owned it for a couple of years, and planned on stripping all the bags and fairing off and turn it into a naked wing. With the rear bags off, I loved the look and thats when I decided to strip it down. Well, a new bike has come along more to my style of bike, so I've decided to sell the wing.The 1978 models were before Honda started making their own fairings and bags, so this bike has everything in the package made by Vetter. The fairing is the Windjammer. That huge seat was going to come off, and I bought a beautiful original seat for it, and that is included with the bike. All the original rear bags are included, as is original radio/speaker bar. All that can be seen in the pictures. The bike only has 43,000 original miles, and runs beautifully. The motor runs tight with no noise or smoking. The clutch is super smooth and the transmission shifts smoothly and surely. The shaft drive is smooth and has no leaks.I am including a brand new in the box starter from Ricks Motorsports Electrics. I bought it because every once in a while the starter would not engage on the first hit of the button. If you check online this starter is a $260 item. Did not have a chance to change it out, so I will include it with the bike. The rear bag rails are aftermarket by Markland Industries and are in great shape. The exhaust system is aftermarket and is in beautiful condition. The tires are brand new and only have a few hundred miles on them.The brakes are solid and smooth and have been recently rebuilt. All instruments are in proper working order, including the three gauge cluster built into the top of the tank. All the electrics are in proper working order including headlight, twilight, turn signals, and instrument lights. Overall, the bike is in excellent original condition, and only has minor patina that comes from 38 years! It has never been on its side and all plastic is in beautiful condition. As you can see from the photos, the chrome is also in very good condition and shines beautifully.You can continue to do as I was going to do and bring it to sport bike condition as a naked wing, or put the rear bags back on and have it in original condition. The stock seat that I am including is in beautiful shape with no rips tears or cracks in it. I have clear title in my name in hand, ready to transfer to the new owner.
