Vehicle Detail

We're moving soon, and there's "no room" at the new place and I refuse to house this bike outside. 1966 Honda CB450K0 "Black Bomber". I am the 3rd owner of this bike, the previous owner owned it since 1971. I have had the bike for a little over a year. In that time, the following is new/upgraded: New Heidenau K33 front tire (less than 100 miles since new) New Heidenau K34 rear tire (less than 100 miles since new) New Ignition coils New PAMCO CB450 electronic ignition New plug wires New NOS left fork lower cover. The original cover had a broken fender mount. New fork seals Some engine cover bolts have been replaced with new hex-head bolts. The remaining bolts that have not been installed will be included. Repro gas tank cushion New speedo cable New upper throttle cable New aftermarket mirrors (originals were missing) New battery New drive chain This is an honest, mostly original bike. The bike has original air filter assemblies, but I have replaced the crumbling paper with oiled foam. The right-side filter rubber tube has a crack which has been wrapped with electrical tape. The bike is currently running later '72 carbs, which are a little less touchy than the original carbs. The original carbs will be included but will need to be rebuilt and the bowls are on the current '72 carbs. The front fender has been in an accident at some point and has damage. I will include a replacement fender than needs to be stripped and repainted. The handlebars have a slight bend on the throttle side, a replacement NOS correct set of handlebars will be included. At some point it looks like there was an acid leak from the battery which has damaged some of the paint on the filter covers as well as the exhaust. Exhaust is original and solid with no holes, just the usual scuffs and the aforementioned acid discoloration. The bike has what appears to be a period-correct rear rack behind the seat. There is only one oil leak, a one-drop/day leak from the bottom of the stator cover which is typical. This cover only leaks when the bike is on the side-stand. Engine is clean with the usual yellowing of the clearcoated parts. Stator cover has a small dent from the shifter lever hitting it at some point in the past. The shifter has been replaced with a nice used (and correct) one. The seat cover appears original and is in good shape. The seat hinges are cracked and should be replaced (repros are available that are nicer than OEM) but still hold the seat on. I have an original seat latch knob but I am unable to get it to stay where it needs to be, not sure if there is something missing from the latch mechanism. Black metalwork is straight with good paint but the usual wear areas. Tank has a small dent from the handlebars/front fork being turned too far but could be easily filled. Inside of the tank is clean and has not been sealed. Speedometer functions, MPH side does "hang" and continue to climb between stops. Speedo ring has a small dent. I would recommend the speedo unit be sent to Bob's Speedometer Repair for cleaning and relubing. Speedo shows ~8300 miles, I cannot guarantee that the mileage is accurate. The left-side filter cover has some cracks and one of the hanging tabs on the frame is missing, but the cover stays in place just fine. The electronic ignition was installed using period-correct bullet connectors and the original wiring harness was not cut when the ignition was installed. The bike can easily be converted back to points-based igntion however you will need to obtain a condensor as the original was not working and was removed. I will include my leftover bullet connectors as well as the special crimping tool with the auction. The bike does not have the toolkit. Overall a solid, honest bike that is a true survivor. This is an original Colorado bike that is not a rust bucket. Tune and ride it as is, or this would make the basis for a great restoration project. The bike starts, runs, shifts and stops. Carbs are clean but need some tweaking/rejetting. Horn, lights, ignition all work. As this is a 50 year-old bike, it is most definitely being sold as-is, but I would be happy to answer any questions or clarify specific condition questions or take additional photos. Clear Colorado title in my name. It is currently registered until 2020 (I intended to keep this bike for a very long time). Extra parts will be sent separately at my expense if you are having the bike shipped. Many shippers are not willing to transport boxes of parts with the bikes, so I will ship separately. Buyer is responsible for pickup/shipping and any associated costs. I do not have the ability to crate this bike, so if you need crating that will have to be arranged by the shipper at your expense. In person pickup welcome, the bike is located midway between Denver and Boulder. In-person pickup is cash only. If you are having a shipper pick this up for you, certified funds will have to be sent and cleared in advance and under no circumstances will the bike be released to the shipper before this occurs. If paying via USPS money order, the bike can be releases as soon as my local post office verifies that the money order is authentic. A deposit of $500 via Paypal is due within 24 hours of either the auction's end or instantly with the "buy it now" option. Payment is due within 7 days of the auction's end, and pickup will need to occur no later than May 27th. Prospective buyers are welcome to come and inspect the bike in person, contact me to set up a time. I will be happy to start the bike for you, however absolutely no rides due to liability concerns. On May-07-16 at 08:53:00 PDT, seller added the following information: I also have a pair of new, correct plastic cable guides which will also be included. I have had some questions about the reserve, I believe the reserve is set at a reasonable amount that is at a minimum $1,000 less than "refreshed" bikes have been selling for recently. I have the reserve set less than what I paid for the bike plus the cost of all of the parts that I've purchased. If you bid the minimum of what the bike is worth, you will meet the reserve. On May-09-16 at 07:30:41 PDT, seller added the following information: Some additional updates/clarifications: The rims do have some pitting/nicks in the chrome but no major rust. They look good from 10 feet but if you are restoring, you will want to rechrome. The tires were mounted by Woody's Wheel Works in Denver when I bought them last year. At that time the wheels were balanced and trued. On May-09-16 at 07:35:42 PDT, seller added the following information: Clarification: The new cable guides which will be included are the ones for the front fender. I do have the original points plate/wiring that was removed when the electronic ignition was installed. This will also be included.
