Vehicle Detail

1972 Oldsmobile 442/Cutlass Supreme Convertible. This car started life in the Lansing assembly plant as a 350 motor 442 convertible as documented by the broadcast card. It sold new at Eskridge Oldsmobile in Oklahoma City in May 72 and spent it's entire life there. It has had 2 owners, second owner had the car from 1974 until I bought it in 2015. In 1988 the convertible top was vandalized and it spent the next 28 years in a dry garage. It is a factory Sunfire yellow car with white bucket seats, stripe kit, and top. It is a 350 auto car with console and factory AC, pwr strg and top, sport steering wheel, sport mirrors, and SS2 Olds wheels. This car is incredibly well preserved. The body is excellent with minor door dings and two small dents in the front passenger fender (hard to photo). The original paint buffed out fairly well. The only rust I can find is a one inch hole at the base of the passenger quarter behind the wheel, and possibly a few pinholes in lower front fenders. Interior floors still have factory overspray. Trunk is pristine. The underside of the car was so clean I scrubbed and power washed it, and painted it chassis black from the transmission cross member back (see photos). When I got the car I filled the cylinders with Marvel Mystery oil and also pulled the valve covers and poured oil in the lifter bores. I let it sit for two weeks and then gently turned the motor by hand. I have not tried to start it. It is the original matching numbers 350 motor. A new gas tank and sending unit from Brothers Automotive is included (not installed). Original documentation includes Eskridge thank you letter, owners manual with Protecto Plate, and some maintenance items with dates and mileage. Door and side upholstery are pretty good originals; it definitely needs a top and seat upholstery kit. White layer of the top was brittle and cracked/peeled off. Top motor works and lifts top partially; ignition buzzer still works. Original radio, jack, spare, and horn button are missing. Overall this is a great Survivor car to restore to your liking. It would need carb cleaning, fuel tank installed, fuel pump, fluids repeatedly changed etc. to get it running. Moving, must sell one project. Sold as is with no warranty and clear title. You must pick up or arrange shipping, I will assist shipper with loading as needed. Thanks for your interest. On Apr-18-16 at 12:57:20 PDT, seller added the following information: Hi I have received multiple calls on this car. Just to fully clarify - my Ebay ad states I have NOT tried to start it - and it is NOT running. I oiled up the cylinders and lifter bores to turn the motor by hand. I was originally planning to pull the motor and trans and have them rebuilt. Also the brakes are not working, master cylinder is frozen. The car rolls easily and the transmission linkage shifts smoothly. The broadcast card was found hog-ringed under the back seat and clearly shows W-29 442 option. Thank you for all the interest. This is a great car to restore or turn it into a driving Survivor car.On Apr-20-16 at 21:33:00 PDT, seller added the following information: Hi I went to check the numbers on the transmission - unfortunately the shift linkage and exhaust are in the was and I could not see them, It looks to me like the transmission has never been removed and I would still bet it is the original. Also I will NOT end the Ebay auction early (have had some offers over the phone). Thanks for all the interest,
