1995 Volvo 850 Turbo We are pleased to present this very nice 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo. There are several things that make this car quite special, and I'll try to make sure that I list all of them for those that are not quite as familiar with these Volvos. The first model of front wheel drive Volvo available in the USA was the 850, and the 850s, along with the 98-00 S70/V70 models are developing quite a following among our customers, and we are constantly having people asking us to find nice examples of them (because of our reputation as a seller of volvos of this vintage). We often come across them, but rarely in the fantastic condition of this particular one. Models pror to 1998 are by far the best years for these cars. 1998 was the last year for the cable throttle. The 1999 and newer models have an electronic drive-by-wire throttle system which was extremely problematic and troublesome. Additionally, 1998 is the final year for the distributor-based ignition system which makes maintenance quite a bit less expensive as it has conventional spark plug wires, along with a distributor cap and rotor, rather than an electronic ignition system. Also, 1998s use the 4 speed automatic transmission which has been known to be virtually bulletproof. In fact, the engine and transmission configuration in this car will have no problem eating all of the miles you throw at it. We have seen several of these with 300, 400, and even 500k miles! Among those who know these cars well, 1995 is the year that is most desirable because not only does it have all the pre-1998 features mentioned above, it's also dual OBD2-OBD1 for computer diagnostics. This allows the car the most versatile serviceability. On top of all of this, the Turbo models are quite rare. It gives you the reliable and VERY powerful high-pressure turbocharged 2.3 Litre 5 cylinder engine along with front wheel drive. The all wheel drive models, though excellent in winter weather, have fairly high-maintenance all wheel drive systems. The Turbo gives you the best of both worlds in that it has the turbo engine (with more power!) without the all wheel drive. The front wheel drive is also assisted with TRACS traction control which helps prevent wheel spin on slippery surfaces like snow and ice. It also has a winter mode for the transmission which starts the car out in second gear to prevent wheel spin. This car is a TWO OWNER vehicle. We've done some pretty extensive research into the history of this particular car. It was originally sold by P&W Volvo (no longer a Volvo dealership, but still in business). It was then traded into Ascot Foreign Cars in Sewickley, PA which was a Rolls Royce / Lotus dealership. Ascot then sold the car to its second owner who kept the car until it was traded into Wright Lotus in Wexford, PA last week. (interesting conincience that it has passed through two Lotus dealerships in its life.) We purchased the car from Wright Lotus to offer for sale as we are huge Volvo enthusiasts and couldn't let such a special 850 Turbo fall into the wrong hands of somebody who didn't know what these cars are all about. The interior of this 850 is in SPECTACULAR condition. In fact, overall, this is one of the nicest interiors we've ever seen in one of these cars. The off-black leather seats are in nearly perfect condition for the car's age with no tears and virtually no cracking (just a little on the drivers seat). They're still very soft, and feel great. They're also heated for your comfort. Everything in the interior works. Even both cup holders aren't broken! The car has the Premium Sound System with a cassette player. We'd be happy to replace it with a CD player of the same style if you'd prefer. It's completely up to you. It's easy to use, and sounds excellent for any time period, but especially for a 21 year old car! None of the speakers are blown. It also has a power moonroof. The previous owner of this car was definitely a non-smoker. Neither the lighter nor the ash tray have been used. There is a cup holder that accommodates two beverages. This Volvo has dual front airbags, as well as front side airbags. It's interesting to note that the 1995 Volvo 850 Turbo was the very first car ever made with side impact airbags. The side airbags are part of a system called SIPS which stands for "Side Impact Protection System." This is a combination of high-strength door beams, specially designed door openings, and side airbags, which keeps the passengers safe in the event of a side impact. Because it has the climate package, it does have heated front seats, as well as heated exterior mirrors. The rear seats fold flat, and the passenger front seat also folds down for carrying very long cargo. The exterior of this 850 is in nearly flawless condition for any car, let alone a car that's 21 years old. We found one door ding and virtually no scratches or chips on the exterior. The car is "601 Classic Red" in color which typically fades pretty badly on the 850s. There's no sign of any fading here which would indicate that this car has been extremely well cared for and kept in a garage since it was new. The car has had only two owners since it was new, these owners appear to have serviced the car exceptionally well. The timing belt service has been completed. This 850 Turbo has the 16 inch "Columba" alloy wheels which are in nearly flawless condition. It's also important to notice that the car has no rust anywhere on it at all. The tires are all in nice shape with excellent tread life remaining. The brakes are in good shape and the car stops as it should. The legendary 2.3 Liter high pressure turbocharged 5 cylinder engine runs flawlessly and is very smooth and powerful. The transmission also operates properly and feels very strong (as these transmissions usually do). It's very smooth, while still handling well. All of the car's accessories work including the power windows and moonroof. These cars rarely have mechanical problems. This car includes a 3 Month 4500 Mile powertrain warranty at no additional charge. The warranty can be used at any repair shop in the United States, no matter where you live. This warranty covers the engine, transmission, and drivetrain. This is in place in order to provide peace of mind when purchasing a car via the internet.
