1998 Chevy C2500 Cheyenne (Fixer upper or for parts Regular cab, long bed Heavy duty pipe rack 5.0 liter V8 (305 ci) Automatic transmission Rear wheel drive Cruise control 7200 gvwr, 6 lug 286k miles The bad: The transmission doesn't shift to third or fourth gears. It shifts good from 1st to 2nd and to reverse. It is drivable up to about 35 mph (around 2500 rpm in 2nd gear). I have not had the problem diagnosed. I have heard it could just be a bad shift solenoid or the transmission might be bad. I wanted a 4x4 anyway so I decided to buy a new truck. It has a power steering fluid leak, I think it needs new steering lines to fix it. A couple years ago the truck was rear ended at a red light, the impact pushed me into the truck in front of me. From this accident, the rear bumper and the frame in the back are bent downwards. The front bumper is also dented up (see pictures). This has not affected the drivability of the truck. It has still ran and driven great ever since the accident. I had an alignment done, it's been driving straight and the tires have been wearing normal. Also has a small exhaust leak from the gasket connecting the tailpipe to front pipe. It is a little louder than normal but not excessively loud. The good: It has a very strong great running engine. Doesn't smoke or make any unusual noises. Cooling system works good, the head gasket has been replaced. The dexcool has been flushed out and replaced with conventional antifreeze. Recently replaced parts include: Brand new 30 gallon fuel tank, fuel lines, brake lines, brake calipers, rotors, pads, rear wheel cylinders, thermostat, spark plugs/wires, distributer cap/rotor.
