Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is my 1971 Volvo 142E. This is arguably the best year and model of the 142 after the GT. Updated front grill from the early years, factory black leather seats, and the only time Volvo put the higher compression B20E with the beefier roller bearing M41 overdrive transmission and larger disk brakes into a 140. Only 1,500 were made. Although the exterior is no longer the factory gold and shows signs of wear, this 142E is an excellent ready to go anywhere driver with zero rot. Body:- Straight panels with even gaps all around. I haven't found any signs of accident damage or repair. Little to no dings in the body. - Chrome is in great to excellent shape all around and is all accounted for, except the beauty rings for the wheels. - Grill and bumpers are in excellent shape - The exterior running lights and turn signals are also in excellent condition- Side mirror glass is excellent- Locking Volvo gas cap- No rot. Don't let the fading brown paint and surface rust on the hood and roof fool you, this car is entirely free of weakened metal (rot). There are no rust bubbles. The only rust hole is a dime sized hole in one of the spare tire wells in the trunk, but the metal surrounding the hole is solid and there is no active rust there. The fenders, rockers, floor pans, inside and underside are all free of rust. Engine:- Strong B20E high-compression engine. Runs great!- Pertronix electronic ignition- New distributor cap & rotor- New Bosch blue coil- New vacuum lines - New engine bay fuel hoses- New injector seals- New Bosch fuel pressure regulator- New temperature sensor- New thermostat - New OEM air intake filter- New exhaust/intake manifold gasket and down pipe gasket- New brake booster- New Bosch alternator- New battery- Recent TPS, valve and timing adjustment- Back box section of the exhaust is currently missing, however I will install a new OEM Volvo back box section prior to selling. Transmission:- Rebuilt '71 142E M41 roller bearing transmission with working overdrive- New transmission mount bushing- New transmission fork rubber boot Suspension / Brakes:- New rear Bilstein shocks (fronts are Bilstein as well but a few years old)- IPD gold front sway bar- Stainless steel brake lines- All suspension bushings look to be in good shape with no cracking Interior:- Rear seats are original and in decent shape. The bottom cushion is in great condition, however the tops of the upper section have cracks in the leather and the center section has some cracks and a tear in the seam. - Rear quarter cards have tears in them, however correct excellent condition replacement cards will be included with the sale.- Headliner is in good shape.- Front seats are not original to the car and have some tears.- Steering wheel center horn is in excellent condition.- Period Blaupunkt stereo AM/FM head unit with Blaupunkt second channel speaker. Both dash speakers are undamaged and working. There is a third speaker in the back parcel shelf, however I have not looked at it or tried to connect it to the sound system.- Center console with arm rest (top leather is missing)- Dash has two cracks and a hole where a tachometer was mounted. I can include a Volvo accessory dash mounted tachometer with the sale, but it's working condition is unknown.- Glove box is currently missing, however I have a glove box and bracket that will be included. If I find the time, I will install it prior to sale. The car starts, runs and drives great, cruises at 75 MPH with ease. I drive it all the time without worry and have taken it on several long road trips. With a paint job and some sorting of the interior, this would be an excellent example of a rare '71 142E. If you are local, you are welcome to come see the car. Please be serious about purchasing the car if you place a bid or use the "Buy it Now." This Volvo is being sold AS-IS, and there are no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including those of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Please ask all questions prior to purchasing. On Feb-04-16 at 22:11:00 PST, seller added the following information: UPDATE: Short video of the engine running here: https://youtu.be/Ru1aT_1XRMkOn Feb-06-16 at 00:17:27 PST, seller added the following information: UPDATE: Reserve is met, so the car is going to sell! I'm still honoring the "Buy it Now" option, if someone wants to purchase the car outright before the auction end. New OEM Volvo rear exhaust section will be installed this weekend. I'll also try to put in the glove box, and the factory Volvo accessory dash mounted tachometer. I'm also going to include a factory vacuum emissions canister that mounts on the passenger fender in the engine bay to help the new owner with the restoration of the car. I also found the blue booklet with the owner's manual for the car, Blaupunkt manual and installation instruction sheet for the Volvo 142, Volvo dealer directory, Quaker State Oil letter and Volvo extended warranty information. On Feb-07-16 at 15:01:32 PST, seller added the following information: UPDATE: First off, there previously was a "Buy it Now" option, and I meant that I would leave it up and wouldn't prematurely take it down. However, eBay has removed the "Buy it Now" option from the listing, and I cannot reinstate it, so the auction will play out. Bid to win! The car is well worth it. As promised, I've installed the new OEM Volvo back box section of the exhaust:
