1998 Mitsubishi Montero Gen 2.5 149,000 Miles 3.5 SOHC V6 I have owned this montero for about 2 years and it has been our main family vehicle. Our family has grown so we replaced it with a Suburban. This montero seats 7 but we have a household of 8. I have been using it for work but really need a pickup instead. It is a bit dirty but should clean up pretty well. It runs and drives, but does have some issues that will need addressed. It can be driven, but I wouldn't plan on buying and driving cross country right away. Timing belt, water pump, spark plugs and wires replaced at 130K New front and rear brake pads and front calipers at about 135K Very nice 31X10.5X15 General Grabber AT2's with about 10K on them This montero has the "winter package" heated seats, headlight washers, rear diff lock Possibly the best 4x4 in the snow I have ever owned, Has 2H 4H 4HL 4LL RDL Catalytic Converter replaced last summer, exhaust is quiet Transmission works well, these are very stout units No CEL and No known fluid leaks I am in the midwest, so it has rust but not terrible I believe the right front wheel bearing will need replaced, makes and intermittent noise Harmonic balancer has a wobble at idle, when the timing belt was replaced an updated crank pulley bolt and washer was installed and torqued to spec but the balancer should have also been done. Has the typical Mitsu valve seal leak, so it used oil and smokes after idling for a bit, can be fixed for cheap if you DIY, but its alot of labor Skid plate, fan shroud, and plastic engine cover are currently not on vehicle but will be included in sale. Sunroof needs help to close. Power door locks work but act funky, maybe a bad switch. I know this may seem like a lot of issues but the truck is priced accordingly with NO RESERVE. If your looking for a Gen 2.5 then you should know the balancer and valve seals are a common issue with them. If you want one without those issues and no rust then your probably going to pay alot more. If you don't know anything about them, do some research. They can be high maintenance but are an incredibly capable and tough vehicle. If you don't turn a wrench, go buy something else. I would work on this myself but am in the process of building a house, hence the need for a pickup. I have sold several vehicles on here before and try to disclose everything I can think of about whatever I am selling. That being said this montero is sold as is. Clear title in hand. I went to take pictures of specific areas today and found that the frame behind the driver side rear tire is rusted through on the outside. The inside is fine, so it can probably be repaired. The passenger side is fine. I will add pictures to show this. I wasn't aware of this before now and was in no way trying to be dishonest. Thank you.
