1996 BMW 328i For Sale is my 1996 BMW 328i Sedan. I purchased the car two months ago in running and driving condition condition from a donation auction. The radio was missing, presumably an aftermarket unit, and the vehicle had couple dents in the hood and fender area. According to the insurance, a new hood, fender, and radio was enough to salvage the vehicle. That is why I presume the vehicle has a branded title.This is a PERFECT vehicle for someone who can take a couple hours to fix it right and SAVE $1,000+ for a great commuter/first time car. Exterior: I would give this car a 7/10 for condition. There is a dent on the passenger side front fender/hood area that is visible. There is also a scratch on the rear bumper. Besides that, there are no significant damage or imperfections. The tires are in good shape and the paint has no oxidation. Interior: The interior would be a 10/10 if the radio wasn't missing. Since it was removed, I'm going to give it a 8/10. It appears that the previous owner has an aftermarket audio system installed because there are a few wires in the trunk and radio left when the equipment was removed. The driver seat has a little amount of wear, but the rest of the interior looks as if nobody has ever sat in it. The onboard computer has a few pixels that aren't working, but it functions properly. All the interior functions work as designed and there are no known concerns. Drivetrain: Engine stars every time and runs smooth. The transmission shifts smoothly and correctly into every gear as designed. Concerns: There are two concerns that I've noticed after driving it for 30 or so miles. After about 30 minutes of idling, the vehicle will start to overheat. It has NOT boiled over on me, but the needle was rising in stop and go traffic. Second, there is a little smoke coming off the exhaust manifold in the engine compartment. After inspection, I found that the valve cover gasket is seeping oil (very common issue with these) onto the manifold which creates the smoke. Both of these concerns are common on these models, so anyone that understands this car will be able to correct the issues without any difficulty. It is currently not registered. Buyer will have to register it in his state of residence, which may or may not involve some extra steps compared to registering a clean title vehicle. We can help registering it in California at buyer's request (reg. fee will apply). I am motivated to sell this vehicle!
