Vehicle Detail

1967 RS/SS Camaro convertible. I have title to this car. I am the seller. This car was last driven 4 years ago, last started 2 years ago. It was parked due to the transmission leaking. It has not been started due to the constant effort needed each time; push it out of the garage (see photo), clean the points and distributor contacts, and jump the battery. Trickle charging did not prove to be sufficient. It was purchased from a used car lot in Ocala, FL, in 1983. It has had a number of repairs since. However, it was becoming unreliable as items were beginning to fail with greater frequency. It is old and in need of complete mechanical and cosmetic restoration. This car is a late 1967 build. It has the bracket under the passenger side for the anti-wheel hop link to the rear axle. Exhaust manifolds are ported for air injection. Ports are plugged and no air injection came with the car in 1983. It was repainted prior to purchase. There is pre-existing body work. Some is not well done; view the missing panel junction of the rear bottom valence to the left, driver’s side rear quarter panel. It once had hood pins. Prior to purchase, the parchment vinyl interior was painted white. Deluxe interior door panel arm rests and driver’s seat are cracked, split. The back panels of the front seats have been cut out for radio speakers. The heater core leaks and has been bypassed. Options: RS/SS, dual horns, deluxe interior, front disc brake (four piston), power steering, console gauges, original AM radio comes with purchase, not currently installed. Mileage: unknown (read ‘Transaxle’ below). Also, there is not a hundred thousand value on the odometer. Engine: original, numbers matching 350. It is tired. All valve lifters were changed in 1985. It was discovered that the tapping was due to the inability of one to hold a hydraulic charge. The camshaft side of the lifter was worn into the internal chamber. Others were worn badly too. Due to constraints of the owner at that time, the cam shaft was not replaced. An after-market rebuilt carburetor is currently on the car. The original comes with purchase. Transmission: Power Glide. This is the original configuration. It is not known if this is the original transmission. Transaxle: Not original. However, it is a December 1966 build (according to the Camaro Research Group, thank you) 10 bolt non-posi traction. It also has a different ratio than original; the speedometer/odometer is not geared correctly. Hypothesized that it was a dealer swap in order to increase miles per gallon. Brakes: front, 4 piston disc, rear drum. It currently has National Parts Depot reproduction calipers with stainless sleeves. Original, un-modified calipers and pistons come with the car. There is a dual master cylinder. No power assist. It currently has an after-market radiator. This was a less expensive option and provided greater cooling. The original leaks, and comes with the purchase of the car. Wheels: steel 1970s rally. Covering the steel rims are 1964-66 SS wheel covers, fake spinner knock offs. These are not original. However, they were the featured wheel on the cover of the 1967 sales brochure. Hideaway Headlight: these did not work when purchased. If no sale, I will defer to local offer, buyer with a standing offer less than starting bid. I will not relist. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE On Dec-08-15 at 17:11:30 PST, seller added the following information: UPDATE: Added pictures of cowl tag, engine serial, both cylinder heads, and underside of car. Cowl tag: O1D S567 ST 67-12667 LOS - 1464 BODY TR 797-Z R-1 PAINT E 2MGR 3SL 4P Engine serial #: 7L137696 VOI2OMV Cylinder heads: Right side, blank. Left side, embossed with upside down, square 'C'. Intake ports are large, smooth rectangles. I saw these when the lifters were changed in '85. On Dec-11-15 at 02:39:24 PST, seller added the following information: This is in response to many questions regarding the health of the engine, specifically my remarks about the lifters being changed in 1985. This car was driven via interstate to North Carolina in 1998. My comments regarding the lifters is simply to emphasize the age and amount of time clocked on this engine. To re-state another way; this car is due a major overhaul.
