My 2005 Nissan Altima was recently rear-ended, crushing the trunk. The repair cost exceeds the value of the car, so I'm not going to repair it. However, the damage was isolated to the rear of the car. The engine was untouched, 3 of the 4 tires are in good shape, and the doors were undamaged.Mechanically it's great. It's still drivable as-is, although the left signal is not working (brake lights & right signal work fine) and one tire has a slow leak. One of the doors has trouble opening/closing (unrelated the the accident) and the power steering feels a little stiff. Other than that and a little bit of rust in the rear, it was in good shape. NYS does not issue salvage titles for cars over 8 years old..I can bring to the salvage yard, but they're not going to give me much. I'm thinking that the car would be of greater value to someone who can fix it up cheaply or use it for parts. The car has under 130,000 miles on it and the engine recently had routine maintenance performed on it. If you would like to inspect it, please contact me for the address.
