Vehicle Detail
1968 Plymouth Road Runner 25K act mile all #'s matching car This is a unique and special car! I located this cool Road Runner about three years ago in a small garage in the Pocono Mountains in PA. It was stored there and was owned by the second owner who had known the car since it was nearly new. Early on the original owner had lived nearby him and he would see the car from time to time and stop by to chat with the original owner and occasionally ask to buy it. This went on for years and then finally one day he was able to buy it from him. By the time the original owner was ready to sell the car it had only accumulated 24K miles and the paint and body was starting to show its age a bit (see "before" pic). The car was stored most of the time and was not driven a whole lot ever so the mileage stayed low. The interior was in excellent original condition and it is still almost all original. The engine and trans were well maintained and had never been out of the car. The paint was starting to fade, a little bit of rust had started down low in the quarters and the fuel system was starting to gum up. When the second owner bought it in the early '90's he put it in his garage with the hopes to revive it and drive it some day but there it sat until 2012. That is when I found it! The second owner was ready to let it go because he could see that he was never going to finish his plans to make it a nice driver again. So, I traveled out to PA and trailered it back to find it a new home. I sold it almost immediately when I got home to it's third owner. Over the next year the new owner had it repainted and replaced the bumpers, tires, shocks, dual exhaust system, brakes, tuned it up and made a beautiful driver out if it. He showed it and took it on local cruises over the last couple of years. Well, life recently changed for him and he just decided that it was time to let it go... so I bought it back. And here it is! It is an ALL NUMBERS MATCHING original 383 HP with the 727 automatic trans, power steering, 3.54 high performance axle package car, black out performance hood treatment, light package, AM radio, heavy duty cooling 26" radiator, PP1 Red with a Silver and Black interior. The factory original engine and transmission have never been out of the car and operate just as good as they did back in the day! The trunk floor is rust free and all original and mostly original paint. The interior is nearly all original still! The ash tray and lighter have never been used, the glove box liner is original, the dash pad is perfect and it's all in fantastic condition. The body was blocked out to be nearly perfectly straight and the little lower rust it had was correctly metal repaired and now looks like new. The underside is rust free and super clean. The car was painted correctly with single stage Red and looks absolutely beautiful! It rides on the same vintage American Racing slotted mag wheels that were on it from back in the '60's with new tires of course. It also comes with a brand new washer bottle for under the hood. I have the original bumpers, original master cylinder and the original distributer. Also included is the original broadcast sheet, the original fender tag, the original certi-card, the original owners manual and a copy of the second owners title showing actual mileage. Cars like this are nearly impossible to find. An all numbers matching super low mileage first year Roadrunner in a great color combination, nice options, HP axel package and loads of documentation makes it investment worthy. A tasteful combination of originality and restoration this nice car is beautiful and ready for whatever you want to do. Needs nothing to drive and enjoy right now!
