Vehicle Detail

This is a Quarter Horse minibike, made in the early 60's in Los Angeles by the MicroSound Corporation. This is one of the few minibikes that has patents pertaining to its build. If you notice, the frame doubles as the gas tank. Folklore tales have the frame made from WWII surplus mortar shells. I cannot verify that, but makes for a good story. The West Bend 610 turns over, but I suspect it will need to be gone through. The recoil is new, but probably not the correct one for this bike. The tires are in decent shape for their age, and hold air! The aluminum wheels are in great shape. This is one of the few minibikes to have tapered roller bearings in the wheels. If you look closely at the rear of the bike, you will notice a cast aluminum swing arm that has shocks that attach to the frame. The jackshaft pivots off the same shaft, eliminating any chain tensioner as they swing in the same arc. The seat is a mess, but I have not touched it. The pan is rusty, but appears solid. These are one of kind bikes, made for adults in the early sixties as a vehicle to put in the hold of an airplane. In 1963 these bikes sold for over $800, which was as much as a used car at the time! MIA: there is no clutch (MaxTorque Clutches can make one for you) and there is no exhaust (there are some aftermarket units as this is the same as the WB820 or US820). The air filter is missing. It is hard to find these bikes, much less this complete! If you have questions, please let me know
