Vehicle Detail
1983 Volkswagen rabbit gti magazine car.was posted in the european car magazine in november 1994 as a GTI war article.this vehicle was titled the doctors GTI, simply because a doctor owne the vehicle.the article may be a little hard to read, but basically states the GTI was the daily driver of this doctor through med school, and when it came time to move on to another vehicle he couldnt let it go.He sent it off to Ron Wood, a notable VW builder, and Ron and his team built the car to be trackable, but retain its city driveability.Ron placed a Audi bubble Block into the vehicle with all the racing goodies, roll cage, stage three turbo and all the goodies to keep the turbo alive and well.Ron also painted the vehicle a brighter white than stock, and installed some custom interior. Since Ron Wood built the vehicle times have changed and the technology has became alot better, so the vehicle underwent a upgrade in 2006. I have 10K plus in receipts!!!The audi bubble block was pulled and completely rebuilt, no stone left unturned, along with the transmission and differential. Along with the drive train rebuilt and upgrade, the suspension also received coilovers. The motor was built to withstand up to 350 hp, almost 4 times the stock power.Currently the new tial wastegate is set to only 12 psi, just be safe, but still puts out an outstanding 250 hp.for a car that weighs only 2000 lbs, 250 hp, is very fast. Under the hood, you will see a very intriguing contraption. this is a water to air intercooler.due to the size constraints for a standard intercooler system, Ron Wood and his team designed this. It allows the air to never need to pass in front of the radiator.the air simply goes into the box and back out. From the box there are water lines that pass down to the intercooler in front of the radiator and then cool the air inside the box.the interior parts that seem to be missing in the pictures are now currently installed back in place. There are racing tires and the Ron wood wheels included along with numerous other parts that belong to the original Ron Wood build.Ron also added hood louvers on both sides. adds a very distinctive look, and is very unique. This car is blast to drive, and although pretty racy, is still very streetable. The reciepts are also included with the vehicle. here are the specsSpecs:2.0l Audi "Bubble Block" just broken in.Weitec CoiloversSpec Stage 2 clutch NewFull tranny rebuild with less than 500 miles, all new OE parts/gears/syncros/etc..Quaiffe LSDBrand new OEM RadiatorTaller 5th gear conversion, 2900rpm @75mph Full motor build done rightJE Forged Pistons, honed, fully built, etc...Bigger Valve kit and fully built, ported and polished head.
