One of Bobbytriumph's most beloved, reliable, and rare vehicles is for sale after nearly 20 years of delightful, reliable motoring pleasure. This opportunity will not come again. I am only the second owner of this amazing and rare (especially in the USA) car. This is the internationally famous "JAVA MOBILE" so named because I always had a cup of coffee and bad jet lag as I used the car to scour the UK for more Triumph parts after having famed 2500 Register expert Andy Roberts find me the car back in 1996. The car was a one owner southern car from the Dorset area, and was very low mileage and well kept. I drove the car to a variety of Triumph shows, the famed Stoneleigh Triumph Show and Spares weekend, the NEC Classic, etc. I then stored the car at my English in laws garages for occasional use for the next seven years before importing it to the USA. It is fully legal in any state, and cleared US customs and all duties were paid. It wears California Plates, current registration, and is ready to be driven and enjoyed. Yes it is RHD but with the amazing visibility of the wagon, being on the opposite side is effortless, and quite entertaining. The outstanding performance of the six, with the later Borg Warner gearbox and the factory power steering and brakes, makes the driveability a joy. The women in the family loved using it too! A practical transport that hauled 4 adults and their luggage on one wonderful UK tour of Triumph factories in 2004 with well known author Graham Robson as our guide! Recent work and service is extensive including radiator, starter, battery, hoses, belts, fuel pump etc. It is just ready to jump in and enjoy. The interior of the car could use a little freshening of the wood, which was not ready for California sunshine but remains original and unmolested as does the rest of the inside. Good headliner, visors, original carpets and seats , all look amazing. The factory upholstery is in wonderful shape; a little thin here and there but should last another ten years. One small wear through top of the rear seat where the rear seatbelt rides, but really unnoticeable. Rust free car, with only one repaint in the factory color done recently and to a good quality driver standard. One or two small unnoticeable dings, truly tiny, and one lower corner had a small corrosion repair during paint. Chrome bumper on the front is newer, and rears are quite good. There is also a very expensive UK trailer hitch on the car, but the first owner stated it was for a lightweight gardeners trailer (his hobby) and seldom used. It does however, add to the possibilities of being your tow car for your other Triumph! Mechanically the car is excellent, with a strong engine, twin SU carburetors, and so many systems reconditioned or replaced. The front windshield was replaced, with new rubber surround, and the rear heated window was removed for a new seal surround as well. The rest of the window rubber is good to fair, but nothing needed presently. The car has emergency flashers, three point seatbelts front and rear, and all the gauges work perfectly, except the clock. The reserve on this car is shockingly low: Why? Because I just cannot keep it now, and I want to open it up to a new enthusiast home. This is one of the happiest cars I have ever encountered and it will be missed. The spare wheel (in an immaculate, rust free clean boot) jack, and the original factory owners book and workshop manual are included. This is it so jump on. You'll never see this again. Ask any and all questions; arrange any inspection by a competent party during but not after the auction, and know I will help arrange your transport at your cost. You will be delighted with this car. Yes, there is a British Motor Industry Heritage Certificate for the car, which I ordered in 1999 and confirms the car remains exactly as built by Triumph and in the correct original color of Sapphire Blue with Black trim. The certificate was issued to me, and signed by then Heritage Trust Archivist Anders Ditlev Clausager, who is noted author and now the Archivist at Jaguar Heritage. Anders told me when I picked up the certificate at the Headquarters and Museum in Gaydon, UK, that the wagon was quite a desirable piece, as production was quite low since Triumph had the wagon bodies specially built by Carbodies of Coventry, the builder of the Austin London Taxicabs. The build quality is amazing, and the fit and finish of the doors and elsewhere is superb as they were mostly hand fitted.
