For auction is a 1996 Mercury Villager minivan in running condition. It has rust in several areas of the body, as well as underside. Recently the driver door lock started hanging up and remaining in the locked position. It has cycled out of this condition once, whereby it worked correctly, and is now is not. The right front turn signal also cycles in and out of correct operation, and is currently not working/flashing when turned on. The exhaust flex pipe has rusted through again, causing an exhaust leak and some noise. The vehicle had a hitch on it, but it has been removed, with the bolts having been cut off and left in the frame. The engine still makes good power, and is quiet except for some tappet noise on start up when cold. There is some tip in hesitation during warm operation, in which tune-up related service hasn't corrected. The transmission is flawless, shifting as it should. A very nice accent to this vehicle is its interior, which is in excellent condition. The bench seats move around and fold properly, with no tears in the fabric. The front seats are pretty much the same. There is a wear spot that goes through the carpet at the drivers right foot. The sliding door works fine, but rust at the base where the roller guide is severe, and will cause failure if not addressed soon. The tires have about 40% tread remaining, with some weather cracking. The wear is very even, and the riding characteristics are very good, with a straight steering wheel, and neutral steering, meaning it doesn't drift or pull when going straight. The gas tank will leak if filled to full, but after a gallon or 2 has been used, the leak ceases. It has an Amsoil Dual Remote oil filtration system on it, running premium synthetic lubricants since the vehicle was acquired in 1999 with 32451 mi. on it. Overall, the vehicle can be driven reliably, with the exhaust issue of greatest immediate concern. Other maintenance such as brakes, steering and suspension, have all been addressed as needed.
