Vehicle Detail
Being shown is a 1996 Ford Escort wagon with many different things having been done to it over the 10 years I've owned it. The two most distracting qualities of this vehicle at this time are the rust and oil leak. There is rust at various places on the body and frame. It's still safe to drive, but probably not worth correcting. However, the finish on the paint of the metal parts is still excellent. About a year ago, the engine developed an oil leak. It has not been conclusively located but is in the area of the head gasket near cylinder no. 1. The following is a list of the major changes that have been made to the car: 2005-Hidden Hitch model 609142005-Pacesetter Monza Exhaust System Including Powder Coated Header2005-Cruise Control2005-Install Center Padded Storage Console2005-ZX2 Front Bucket Seats2005-Amsoil Bypass Oil Filter System2005-Ford Mag Wheels from GT Model2005-Weapon R Secret Weapon Intake System2005-Install 1/2" Plywood Floor W/Sound Deadening Insulation in Rear Cargo Area2005-Install Magnecore 45181 8.5mm Spark Plug Wires2007-Replace Engine W/35,000 mi. Unit2007-Have Valve Cover Powder Coated Over the years many serviceable parts have been replaced... over and again. this includes tune-up items, brakes, shocks, springs, windshield, and tires. In 2007 the engine was replaced due to a dropped valve seat in the original engine. The replacement engine had 34, 000 miles on it when it was installed, and has currently approximately 60,000 actual miles on it. The transmission was overhauled with a shift kit installed. In 2012, there was a front end collision with the car. Front bumper and left fender were replaced, and the hood was repaired. Many usable parts for this car have been accumulated over the years, and are included with this car. Currently the car runs well, and everything works. It has H rated tires with 80% tread remaining on them, and when pressed hard, handles and feels like a go-cart with good manners. The oil leak in my estimation prevents it from being a dependable daily driver for any distance. I'd say it uses about a quart in 200 miles, at this time. As of this listing, a water leak into the wagon area was discovered, coming from the left rear cornering light housing, and has been since sealed with the offending wetness completely dried out. With the right repairs, this little car could continue to soldier on for a few more years. Thanks for looking!
