Vehicle Detail
Rare 1964 Spitfire Mark I for sale with a low reserve. Not many of these are still on the road. I purchased it two years ago with hope of making into a daily driver, but did not quite make it. I would like to make room for a newer roadster in my garage. This car is sold AS IS. It starts and runs, but as with most old triumphs, it has been in and out of the shop with various issues since I've owned it. It is generally drive-able around town, but once it heats up it will sometimes idle down and stall upon parking and will not re-start for a while, as if the engine is flooded. This may be a vapor lock or some other simple adjustment to the carbs, but I'm not sure. Also, the thrust washers that hold the crank shaft in place wore out and have been replaced, but there is still some play in the shaft, indicating that problem may or may not be fully resolved. The body is in decent shape for a 50-year-old car, with a few chips to the paint shown on the photographs. The seats are replacements and torn. They are covered with seat covers The interior could use some sprucing up. The speedometer and tachometer gauges are not functioning and likely need to be replaced. On the other hand, the fuel and heat gauges work well. I've installed stereo with an mp3 adapter. Other newer items include: soft top, brakes, steering, and clutch. The electrical system appears to work pretty well. The car comes with a hard top as well. Overall, this is a great classic roadster, but please know that it cannot be guaranteed. For the right person who is either mechanically handy or knows someone who is, it could make a great project car. A deposit is due within two days of the close of the auction. The winning bidder will be responsible for arranging and paying for shipment or pick up, but I can deliver locally in the Boise, Idaho area to a shipping point.
