Vehicle Detail

1998 Volkswagen Beetle 1.9 Turbocharged Diesel 50MPG!!!!!!! I hate to do this, but minivan life has hit me and I need to get rid of my Beetle. She's no show car, but still looks very presentable and keeps going and going and....... I live an hour away from work, and this got me the 100 miles a day 5 days a week with no problems at all, and all on only 12 Gallons of diesel! Now you see why I hate to sell. Overall, like I said, it's a presentable car. It has its bumps and bruises like any car would nearing that 200,000 mile mark, but people would always say they thought it was a lot newer than a '98. I updated the stereo to a bluetooth media player which, while not playing CD's, plays pretty much anything with a USB hookup (iphones, ipods, UBS stick, those other phones that aren't iphones!). It also has hands free for phone calls. Car runs nice, and besides the recent bad alternator (replaced Aug 2015, under warranty), needs pretty much nothing to get you where you have to go. The passenger side lock never worked when I bought it (door locks, but keyhole doesnt), neither does the cruise control. I believe everything else is ready to go. No window problems (common on these cars), power hatch and gas cap work fine, all gauges work (airbag light is on since I bought it, never looked into it). I usually run a can of Liqui Moly through every 6 months and the car runs like a top. It's about due for another can if you want to keep that schedule (read the reviews, the stuff really works great). Trans gear oil was replaced 6 months ago. Exhaust looks new but isn't. Emergency brake repaired last week, works great. Tires are about 50%. Seats have been scotch guarded and look pretty good. Paint still shines nice, has some cracking on the flexible plastic parts (see pic) and a small ding here & there, nothing major at all. Again, overall a nice car! The headliner was gone when I got it so I made a custom one....it gets a ton of attention (all good!). I have a folder of svc records from the previous owner, I did everything myself since then. Any questions, don't hesitate to ask. As you know, these motors are just getting broken in around that 200,000 mile mark, and this one shows no signs of surrender! The 5 speed manual shifts nice and should last a long time. Pick up near Philly in southern NJ.
