Vehicle Detail
border="0"> 1971 Chevelle SS. This a solid southern car with original floors and sheet metal. Doors are very solid and open and shut perfectly. It was repainted in 2007 to the factory original Antique Green code 49. The paint in the door jambs, trunk jambs and bottom of trunk is still original. I would rate the paint an 8/10 because it has normal wear from driving (some touch ups, rock chips, etc.). The rear wheel lips have been rolled up about 1/4" to accommodate the rear tires. The texture you see on the floor board pictures is undercoating, not rust. The frame and floor of the car was undercoated at some point in it's life. Originally a small block car but the numbers do not match now. Car was produced at the Arlington, TX factory. There is no build sheet for the car which is not uncommon for Arlington built cars. A small block car with SS option was available in 1971. 1970 was big block only. The SS hood and SS dash are GM parts, not aftermarket reproductions. This car is very quick, I would guess it would run a low 12 second 1/4 mile. Engine: The engine is block number 3970010 and has approximately ~3000 miles on the rebuild and is built to the same specs as an Edelbrock RPM 410 HP crate motor, with the exception that the this motor is bored .030 over and has increased 10.5-1 compression (Forged pistons with molly rings). H beam rods. ARP bolts. Was built with New Edelbrock RPM 64cc heads #60899, 202 intake, 160 exhaust stainless valves. 1.5 roller rockers with hardened push rods, Edelbrock RPM cam #7102. Edelbrock RPM Intake. Holley 750 Ultra Double Pumper (# 0-76750RD) with electric choke and electric AC solenoid which was added for increasing the rpm with the AC compressor kicks on. Summit racing aluminum oil pan. GM HEI ignition. Summit Racing high torque chrome mini-starter motor (1 year old). AC has been updated to R-134a (POA valve calibrated for R-134a, new expansion valve, HNBR O-rings at connections. Newer aluminum radiator. Exhaust: Cyclone coded headers (#86001). Thrush 2.5" dual exhaust kit with H-pipe (#89203). Transmission: Rebuilt TH350 with shift kit, hardened sprag gear, redline clutches, summit racing aluminum pain with drain plug and new Hughes GM 30 10" non ballooning stall converter (3000 rpm stall). ~3000 miles on rebuild. Rear axle/suspension: 12 bolt, 3:73 gears with Eaton posi. New bearings and seals. Adjustable UMI upper and lower tubular control arms (# 4105), UMI bushings in rear axle housing ears (#3000). Newer springs and Summit Racing adjustable drag shocks. New u-joints in driveshaft and driveshaft was professionally balanced. Font Suspension: Jeg's tubular control arms, new front brake pads, newer ball joints, idler arm, tie rod ends, and center link, newer springs and shocks. All new brake lines, new wheel cylinders in rear, new master cylinder and new brake booster. Wheels/Tires: Wheels are Summit racing legend series 18X8.5 front and 18X9.5 rear. Tires are Nitto NT555R Extreme Drag Radials in rear (285/40/ZR18). Fronts are Nitto NT555 (245/40ZR18. Approximately 3000 miles on them. Interior: Front and rear seats both have new upholstery from last year. Retractable shoulder front seat belt kit added (MORRIS brand). Seat leg room extension brackets were installed (allows 2 inches of additional front leg room for taller drivers, can be removed easily if you don't need them. Retrosound car stereo with the classic look and Bluetooth Audio link capability. Pioneer speakers front and rear. There is a hole in the carpet where an aftermarket floor shifter must have once been installed. The hole is covered by the cup holder which is mounted to the floor. Local sale: Car is for sale locally and I'm open to offers. I have the right to end/cancel the auction early at anytime for any reason.
