Vehicle Detail

Fabulous piece of history, this 1956 Mercedes Benz 219 still runs great and turns heads wherever we go. I hate to part with it but have a daughter turning 16 and need room of another car. Will consider a trade for a nice car or truck with similar value. If you are interested in trading, please let me know what you have, the condition etc…entertaining all reasonable offers. Preferably a BMW, Lexus, Volvo, Subaru or Jeep. No junk please. I have owned this car for about 20 years. Purchased from a 90 year old gentleman in Downey, CA. Have had it worked on many times and it is running well for its age. Have recently had a custom radiator made, and new battery installed. It shifts 4 on the tree. Odometer has not worked since I have had it. No idea the miles as it is frozen at 8,000. Headlights work… I drive it around town often. I have the service records to see what has been done. Could use paint and chrome. I had chrome done about 16 years ago but it is starting to peel in places. There is a little rust on the bottom edge of two of the doors. No rust in the trunk. The red vinyl seats are in great shape. Had two seatbelts installed in the front. Original Blaupunkt radio dash. Hidden CD player in glove compartment may need replacing. Starts right up and drives great. The Webasto sunroof works great and the faded vinyl was replaced with a black Sunbrella, no fade canvas. The headliner was also replaced and is in perfect condition. It is a light gray. The red interior vinyl is in good shape although on some door handles the vinyl is cracking and split. The driver door lever cable has recently separated so one has to roll down the window and open the door from the outside. I have tried to mention all issues I can think of but this is a 60 year old car so of course it is not perfect. Hoping to find the right person who wants to bring it back to its glory. Google Mercedes 219 Ponton and there are videos on youtube of these restored cars racing across Europe in recent rallies. Lots of potential! Great project that is not too overwhelming. I hate to part with this fabulous classic car so will need a great offer or trade to make it happen. According to Haggerty.com the average value of this car is $13,270.
