Here is a great 1957 Classic Beetle with a history. “Turtle” was purchase in 1957 by a woman from Virginia, it resided with it's first owner for 20 years. Turtle's second owner, for the next 15 years, was a enthusiast from North Carolina. Turtle has been entered in many classic VW shows, winning awards. He was then acquire by a local Michigan enthusiast in 2002, who drove him to a Vintage VW event in New Hampshire. Turtle's current owner collected him in August of 2004. Turtle has been garage kept and cared for. Turtle has been repaired and restored as needed, he is as close to being 1957 correct as we know to make him. His body and pan numbers are correct (January) 1957. The engine has been changed at some point (when is unknown) “Thesamba.com” indicates the engine numbers match a manufactured date of (May) 1959. Turtle has been repainted with the original “Agave”, and has been re upholstered with the correct Red interior. All gages and lights / turn signals / and 6 volt charging systems work, new battery this season. NOTE: ( No Seat Belts ) I have included pictures to show small paint chip on right rear fender, paint chip on hood drivers side, and unattached chrome cover for rear ash tray, (I have the cover), carpet worn side of drivers foot well. Turtle will need a new clutch in the near future, transmission wants to pop out of reverse (hold your finger lightly on gear shifter, to backup) all forward gears work fine. This vehicle is a very fine example of a original untampered and unmodified 1957 Volkswagon Beetle. A joy to drive and the nostalgia to turn heads on the street, in a parking lot, or at a vintage show.
