Vehicle Detail

Solid, original 1987 Land Rover RANGE ROVER Classic, the very first year of the iconic Rangie in the United States. This is a Short-wheelbase Rover, a CALIFORNIA Rover since sold new at the old BMC ( British Motorcar Company) dealership on Van Ness Ave in downtown SF, now Land Rover of San Francisco. All stock, and all-original Classic. This is an interesting non-sunroof model, with rare cloth upholstery ! NEVER altered, lifted, off-roaded or abused. It has always resided in the Bay area. It scores an AUTOCHECK report score of 59 out of a 19-56 range! Completely stock 3.5L engine runs well. No engine noises or visible leaks. 142K approximate miles, extremely low for any Land Rover ( more than likely because it lived in the Napa winery then around downtown, where traffic is tight and parking is at a premium). No alterations or deviations from stock condition, other than it having received new springs at some point in its life. Automatic transmission shifts well through the gears. Power disc brakes, Power steering, Power windows and Power seats ( they are finicky and work on and off). NO troublesome ABS brakes as present in 1990 and later models, NO nightmarish EAS guaranteed to suddenly deflate and leave you stranded, and NO leaky sunroofs to contend with. As simple and as basic as a Range Rover Classic can be~! This is a fairly rare solid roof model, thus no leaky sunroof issues to contend with. Brand-new battery. Nice CD player. It has a set of nearly-new PIRELLI radial tires all the way around, with at least 90%+ tread remaining ( except for one, the spare). New rear MONROE SensaTrac rear struts ( I also have a pair of front ones, in their box). Also New rear-hatch shocks. Needs: * A new speedo drive * Front shocks installed ( have them) * Some basic servicing * Gauge cluster cover ( I stepped on it by accident) This is a straight example of an un-restored Classic Range Rover that looks good despite its vintage. The coachwork is in good condition for its age, with no dents, scratches or any visible damage. It is rather clean for a 1987-vintage Landie. It runs and drives well. As a true California vehicle, it is completely 100% rust-free as expected, and solid throughout. Its original Cypress green factory finish still shines very nicely, despite the passing of time. All doors, panels, hood and trunk line up very well. There is absolutely NO clearcoat fading, flaking or damage to the factory finish on the roof, hood or filler panel areas, common on many Rovers. Its original ash/gray cloth upholstery is in very good condition and has held up well. The driver's bottom is has one small seam separation as pictured. The headliner is somewhat droopy in some areas, as it is its more common ailment on all Range Rovers. I have had a local small upholstery shop inspect it and they would be willing to refinish the complete headliner for $200. In addition, I also have a complete SAFARI PACK frontal brushguard available for this Rover. I have it mounted, but as some folks prefer the basic original look of the Classic Range Rover, I can have it removed if desired, or leave it as it is. In addition, I will also include for free a set of brand-new ( without box or harness) HELLA 500 auxiliary foglights ( the GOOD ONES MADE IN GERMANY, NOT THE JUNK MADE IN TAIWAN OR INDIA), as one of the front HELLA 1000s took a pebble on the lens. The lower HELLA 520 driving lights are fine. This Range rover Classic has a clear California title and has been in regular operational status since 1987 until now, and it is currently registered until 2015. FREE CARFAX report available on request. It has a very good engine, solid bodywork and clean original interior. It will make a nice completely original Classic SWB with minor tlc. Overall a solid, unrestored and original California Range Rover Classic. I am also advertising this vehicle in other venues, and as such, I reserve the right to end this listing at any time, should a serious offer present itself. These old Range Rovers are getting harder and harder to find, specially in original, unaltered condition. Solid roof models are even more rare. I am a Land Rover enthusiast ( own 2 others), and have been around LRs for over 30 years and owned just about every model and vintage. I had plans to turn this Classic into a Camel-Trophy rendition Range Rover, but after just coming back from Europe, I have decided to go back again on an extended vacation, thus my plans have as such changed. I have no need for money, nor desperate to sell, trade for weed, your mom's old furniture, your granpa's sunken boat or any other nonsense. That being said, I am a motivated seller, not interested in games or waste anyone's time, nor mine. I AM looking for a fellow Land Rover aficionado that will care for this Rangie. Feel free to EM or call me if you would like to seriously discuss or have pertinent questions. I shall be glad to assist coordinating shipping of this Classic RRC anywhere nationwide or overseas, at the most economical shipping rate available. Please be aware, I do not control pick up or delivery times should you purchase it; that is pending weather conditions and shipping/ trucking delivery schedules.
