Vehicle Detail
This is my late father’s 1941 Ford Convertible with a Flathead V8 and 3 on the tree transmission. Its color is an original 1941 Ford gray. He purchased it in 1978 or 1979 from North Carolina. He purchased a non-running 1941 Ford Convertible to use as a parts car a year or so after getting it. He had it restored over 10-12 years, having work done as he saved enough money for it. He did not do any of the work himself. The restoration was completed sometime in the early to mid-90’s. He was a stickler for using original parts and keeping it stock, so to the best of my knowledge it is as original as possible. It is not in showroom perfect condition. He took it to many amateur car shows and cruise-ins, and used it often in parades. The only thing I know he added to it that was not on it when he purchased it is a turn signal. I do not know if the 1941 Ford had turn signals as an option, but I know he had a switch added to the steering column and the tail lights act as turn signals when the lever is moved up or down (for left or right). He passed away in Nov. 2013, and the car sat covered and untouched in a garage. I took it out of storage in May, 2015, and the only thing I did was install a new battery and spray carb cleaner in the carb, and it started right up. It runs very well. I believe the brakes are fairly new. The ignition button currently hangs by its wires under the dash, so it needs attached to the bottom of the dash, and the steering wheel lock mechanism needs replaced. There is a box with new parts for this, including new keys. I was told everything to replace the steering wheel lock is there. I thought I recalled him saying he had recently replaced the motor that put the convertible top up and down, and I saw it with the top down shortly before he passed away, but when I tried to put the top down, it would not go. I could hear the motor running, but I didn’t try too long for fear I had not unhooked something that was preventing it from going down, so perhaps it does work. It has fender skirts for it (see pictures) but I took them off to wash it and was afraid of scratching the car if I tried to put them back on. They were on so I know they do fit. The interior is in excellent condition. I do not know very much else about this car. I have had several individuals that are familiar with this model look at it and they all have said that while it is not currently in show-winning condition, it is definitely “all there”, and could be made into a show winner with minimal effort. They said a professional paint job, engine detailing, minor adjustments to the doors & trunk lid and some elbow grease on the chrome and it could be a stunning car. They said as is, it would be a fun car to drive to cruise-ins and similar events. Having no first-hand knowledge of this car, and very little knowledge of any kind about it, I will do my best to answer any questions but I make no guarantees or promises about anything relating to its condition. You can request a pic from a different angle than shown and I'll do my best to get it for you. I have a short (approx. 30 seconds) video of it being started, so you can hear it run. Send me a request and I'll email it to you. Conditions of sale are as-is where-is. Buyer responsible for all costs and efforts associated with the shipping of this vehicle. Acceptable payments are cash or money order/cashier's check from a well known bank ONLY. If I am in doubt, I reserve the right to show the cashier's check/money order to my bank for verification prior to releasing the vehicle and title.
