I purchased this 1957 ford thunder bird from the estate of its original owner in southern california where it spent its entire life to the best of my knowledge. I own a restoration shop and purchased this car to completely restore for a couple. They relocated and lost interest in the project so now my find is your opportunity! I was looking for a clean un molested car with no major rust issues and with all of its trim and running gear intact. This car fit the bill to a t. it is not perfect it has an outward dent in the nose and a small damage spot in the rear in front of the bumper and little chips scratches and dings from the original owner driving it in her old age(this was her daily driver up until she passed) The interior is clean, the trim and chrome is all there accept for on one of the fender skirts. The fender skirts are included and in the trunk. The car had been sitting for some time when I obtained it so I rebuilt the carburetor, installed a new fuel pump, drained the gas tank and filled it with fresh gas. The car now starts right up and runs great. I have driven it around the business complex and the automatic transmission shifts through all of its gears and rear axle does not seem to have any issues. It appears the power steering unit has been replaced at one time and works just fine. The brakes also seem to stop just fine but I did not take anything apart for a visual inspection. Steering feels tight and the engine does not seem to smoke or have any mechanical noise. It does have the 312 v8. The radiator appears to be clean, coolant is green and the cooling system is functioning. The tires are old and flat spotted from sitting but with a fresh set of tires I believe this car should be road worthy. This is the perfect car for a complete restoration, a resto mod, or for someone looking to love it as the survivor it is.
