1978 BMW R100S. Has RT fairing installed.13,936 actual miles. 1,000 CC "Boxer"/"Airhead" motor with factory dual disc front brakes, factory "Snowflake" style aluminum wheels, factory BMW quick disconnect side cases (these alone are worth about $500-$700), the bike looks pretty good for its age, a few nicks and scratches here and there, but wear is minimal as it should be for this low of mileage. It does appear that the right side mirror has been hit and damaged the fiberglass where the mirror is mounted, but it is still fully functional. Each head has a couple of scrapes which I'm assuming is common considering how far the cylinders hang out on these bikes. It has a brand new AGM battery and new Dunlop tires. The motorcycle had been sitting when I purchased it. I brought it home and installed the new battery and it started right up. I added a couple gallon of fresh gas but really it would be best to drain the tank, the old gas makes it blow a little black smoke. The motor seeps a little oil (I've heard that is normal for one that has sat around a lot). I was informed that the clutch was slipping from the previous owner, when I got it running I took about a 2 mile test ride and the clutch was slipping bad and now it doesn't pull itself, the transmission shifted great and it rode nice and handled well. I love the bike but I just don't have time to make it what it should be or to even install the clutch. Overall this is decent all around classic and sought after BMW with low, low miles and lots and lots of potential. Could very easily be ready for the season with a little TLC.
