Vehicle Detail

I am forced to sell my 1957 Ford Country Sedan due to a divorce settlement. Someone is going to get a fantastic car at an even better price. I purchased this car in 2009 for $24,900.00 and have since invested an additional $11,000 in upholstery, seat belts, air conditioning, electric two speed windshield wipers, new rubber door seals throughout, CD Stereo with Blue Tooth, total front end rebuild, automatic electric radiator cooling fan, new brake drums and shoes all around, starter motor, fuel pump. I have purchased and upholstered a third row passenger seat and folding floor to carry 9 people which is available to the buyer for an additional $500.00 Additionally, I will include the third row seat at no cost if the Buy-It-Now option is used. The rear ride height is adjustable using the air valve inside the fuel fill door. This is very convenient when carrying heavy loads behind the second row seat or passengers in the optional third row seat. The engine is rock solid and does not burn, consume or leak oil. It does not make any problematic noises or vibrations, and has a super smooth and quiet idle and plenty of power. The power steering and power brakes work perfectly making this car a pleasure to drive and park. I have all of the receipts for the purchase of the car, the work performed, and parts purchased that will be given to the new owner. Also included is a full color 1957 Ford Station Wagon sales brochure. When I installed the air conditioning, I also added an electric thermostatically controlled radiator cooling fan to give it just a bit more insurance against overheating on very hot days. I have driven all day long in stop and go traffic here in Los Angeles on days over 100 degrees with the A/C on full blast and the car has never had any overheating issues. All lights work perfectly, and so do all of the gauges, with the exception of the speedometer on very cold mornings which will pulsate and clatter until the cable lubricant warms up. The heater and air vents all work. All of the window regulators work easily and so do the door latches and hinges. The headliner is in very good shape except for a 4 inch stain and 2 inch fray above the driver door. The padded dash does not have any cracks but the vinyl covering has separated away from the padding in two places one on each side near the curved portion of the windshield. The front replica floor mat is in excellent shape whereas the rear floor mat, being original has some large splits. The linoleum cargo floor covering is old and brittle but looks good in all areas except the back of the second row seat where big sections have cracked and fallen off. This material is available from SMS Upholstery and order forms for it will be included in the packet of receipts. The interior metal trim around the windows and cargo floor is beginning to show its age but I will include color matched paint ( in spray and pint cans) to touch up areas as they need it. I also have color matched touch up paint for the exterior as well. The chrome is in very good condition but is beginning to show some light pitting in a few areas such at the mirrors and behind the license plates. There are also the usual scratches and minor dents on the corners of the bumpers. The radio antenna broke but still works adequately with the modern radio but will need to be replaced to get reception on the working original Ford radio. The Automatic Transmission occasionally "chatters when initially but in reverse after sitting for a week without driving. Most of the time this does not happen but I wanted to alert the buyer to it. It has done this from the moment I purchased it in 2009. The more you drive the car the less this will occur. At speeds between 60-80 mph you will experience a pulsating vibration that seems to be similar to a drive shaft out of balance. it has done this since I have owned it and I have balanced the wheels and installed new universal joints to no avail. I believe it is a symptom of the same issue that causes the transmission chatter when going into reverse. So, you should consider a transmission overhaul at some time in the future should this ever get worse or you find it too annoying to tolerate. Please keep this possible expense in mind and adjust your bidding appropriately. I'm selling this car in As-Is condition with no warranty or returns accepted. The radial white wall tires have plenty of tread but are beginning to show some sidewall cracking. The undercarriage is totally solid with only slight surface rusting in some areas. The only spot showing any rust of consequence is on the driver side front fender panel at the very bottom of the wheel well. there are two 1/8 in diameter bubbles forming. I will have this fixed before shipping the car so that you will not need to worry about it coming back. The car does have a spare tire, jack and lug wrench and there is no rust in the storage area. There is a remote power door locking system installed and it worked well for years but recently has not been working on all of the doors. I believe the problems are a result of the clamps that attach the actuators to the lock rods having become lose and now just slip instead of moving the lock mechanisms. The keys still operate all of the doors so there is no issue getting in and out and locking the car the old fashion way. Finally, I have installed a cup holder/console/dual power port on the front transmission hump. If you wish to remove it you will only need to remove two small sheet metal screws and unplug the power port wires. I believe I have covered every possible concern as well as the good points. Feel free to ask questions and I will respond as soon as possible. Good luck bidding.............someone is going to own a very nice car!
