Vehicle Detail
68 Dodge Garage Truck, with rat rod charisma - and a touch of bad boy behavior. Born as a six cyl, 3 speed manual, but no more. Now sporting a 67 Mustang 289 and a Ford Police Cruiser AOD transmission. Tons of sweat, toil and expense have already been sacraficed, yet you may require additional TLC - maybe not. Up to the new owner. The Ford Police 4 speed overdrive automatic transmission was gone over with a full seal kit and serviced. No leaks as I list this. Performs strong. The Ford 289 (67 Mustang born) also exhibits no leaks, nor smokes or uses oil. No signs of blowby. Just cranks right up and pulls. Small cam so a little radical. Runs good in warm weather. Cranky until warms up in cold weather - although does start right up. Has manual choke. Dual Flowmaster exhaust exiting out each side. Throaty menace sound. New brakes all around. New drums/hubs/bearings/races and seals up front. Although the Eldorodo Legend GT 235/70-15 tires and Pacer wheels have only 200 miles, they are both 2 years old. The windwhield is fogged at bottom. Other glass and door windup are good . Heater core lines not hooked up. Heater does work. I removed the ducting and use the blower to ventilate air thru the cab. Works pretty darn good. About 300 miles on new tires (although 2 years old). Same with the Pacer rims. I replace with new lens for front signals and rear tail lights. Try finding these and they are expensive. Lights and turn signals work. Wipers work. Working gauges are volt and temperature. Solid truck with the only real rust perforation being in the lower bed area. The bed is still very solid and not flimsy. Doors close amazingly solid with no sag. Passenger door handle sticks but does work. No original tailgate, but does hav a 1" stained plywood tailgate. It is shaped to fill the void nicely. Adds to the rat rod presence. Doesn't lay, but slides in and out. With the front wheels off the ground, there is no absolutely no steering play. On the ground, your first impression is that there is play but quickly learn to steer accurately. These were built as farm trucks and incorporated on center give to eliminate broken hands when encountering rough going. Us older farts already know this. No power steering. Just need to get rolling and she steers fine. Controlled buckboard ride (new shocks) that one appreciates as you drive with your elbow hanging out. Old school at its finest. Understand this is a rumbling, patina flavored, rambling rat rod with no power assist. Leave your mint tea at home. Will need two hands to negotiate this thing when parking. No computer on this, sorry tuner crowd. Does have a HEI coil and a new Eldebrock 1604 600 CFM carb. Being sold "as is". No guarantees on this ageless gem. (Have to claim this for legal purposes).$250 deposit via PayPal with remainder due within 7 days. You arrange pickup or shipping. I can assist within my limited capacity. Thanks for checking this cool truck out. Good luck! Email me via EBay Mail for other questions or for my phone number. Can't put it out there as I will be swarmed by fee based advertising scams. The truck and I are both located in Jacksonville.
