Vehicle Detail

This is a 1968 Imperial Crown Coupe, a rare 2 door version of Chrysler’s top of the line luxury car. This car was produced to compete with the Cadillac Eldorado and Coupe Deville as well as the Lincoln Mark series. Only 2656 Crown Coupes were manufactured in 1968, a very low production number! This car was purchased brand new by Fred Manning on November 15, 1967 from Fred Drake Chrysler & Plymouth in Pensacola, FL. The original owner’s manual and warranty card are still in the dash. After being meticulously maintained and driven only 77k miles, it was put into storage in a dry garage in the mid-80’s. The story goes that a car collector bought the luxury coupe, and many other old and unusual cars, and stored them in various rental properties in Florida. When he passed away, the family donated the car to a church which is where I obtained it. It is equipped with a 440 cubic in. V8 engine, automatic transmission, black leather interior, air conditioning, and power everything. It also has the rare automatic headlight dimming system. The original condition of this car is amazing. When I bought the car it had been sitting for 20 plus years so I did the following: · Replaced the gas tank and sending unit· Blew out the fuel line and cleaned/replaced the rest of the fuel system components· Primed the top and bottom end of the engine with oil and marvels mystery oil, then turned by hand to ensure no damage would incur during the initial start up· Replaced brake hoses, front brake calipers (4 piston calipers!) wheel cylinders.· Flushed fluids, changed plugs, wires, cap rotor etc· Installed brand new radial white wall tires (it still had bias ply tires) Then….. I fired it up. It runs like a new car!! The 440 runs with no noises or smoke, transmission shifts nicely, car does not pull or shake down the road. The leather interior is in great shape, as is the entire interior. Headliner, door panels etc are all very nice. The body is very solid with no rust except one small crusty corner of the hood. I think the battery acid evaporated up into this area (see pic). It is not a rust hole, it can be sanded and then a small amount of filler to smooth it out. The floors are perfect, trunk is perfect, and all body panels are solid. The paint still shines, but has lots of scratches. Can be driven as is and be proud of her or have it painted and have an absolutely beautiful car. The original vinyl top is still in great shape and has no rust bubbles popping up at all. It still needs a few things: Exhaust system is bad – I was not sure if I was going to put on dual exhaust or leave original single, so I left it for the next owner to choose. Headlights have an issue – I think it is the headlight switch Passenger side power windows are not working, I have not tried to fix them. Might just be a switch. Driver’s side windows work fine. A/C not cold, but have not tried charging it With a little more work this car will be worth much more money than I am asking. Please let me know if you have any questions Thanks
