Vehicle Detail

There are a lot of hack job back yard rat trucks out there; this is NOT one of them.  Up for auction is a one off, professionally built rat truck from Precision Street Rods, llc. in Mechanicsville, Va.  This truck is the amazing vision and construction of owner John Arkesteyn.  Thank you for your time and consideration, good luck to bidders, and please feel free to contact us about any questions you have.    The foundation for this truck is a custom built 2x3 steel chassis specifically built, length and height wise, for this design.  It has been braced and gusseted from front to back and on every cross member and bracket.  It was them epoxy primered and painted Gloss black.  It rests over top of a set of 1953 Chevrolet 1.5 ton flatbed axles and the two monstrous axles are mated to the chassis via our house made 1 1/4 inch four link bars and 1 5/8s heim joints and our house made watts link.  The rear suspension consists of new slam specialties RE7 bags and Monroe ride right shocks; the front has Air Ride Tech ShockWaves.  Both front and rear massive axles were thoroughly checked and the entire system has been gone through.  All six brake wheel cylinders (one per each front wheel, two per each rear wheel at 100.00 ea.).  It received new front and rear brake shoes as well as new rubber brake hoses front and rear. Brake pedal pressure is supplied from a speedway motors under floor master cylinder.  The brake lines from the master cylinder to the axles are 100% brand new copper/nickel hand bent hard line.   As with the entirety of this build, no expense was spared in the air management system of this build.  The air bags are plumbed to the air valves via 100% hand bent, solid copper 3/8 line.  Distribution is supplied by the best valve manifold on the market made by AccuAir.  The AccuAir valves are controlled by their amazing touch panel which is custom mounted flush, directly into the truck's dash board.  The 5 gallon air tank is filled by two Flat Black ViAir 444 compressors.  When aired out the trucks frame lays flat on the ground, as does the cab rocker panels, but great attention was given to the wiring and plumbing of all electrical, brake lines, and airlines to ensure they are out of harm’s way as not to be crushed doing so.  All wires and lines are fastened to the frame with copper clamps.  When at full raise, the front end gets approximately 4 inches of lift and the rear gets a little less than 6 inches giving an overall ground clearance of approximately 4 inches.   The front end demands attention as it appears and is comprised of various components.  The grille is a N.O.S 1939 Plymouth sedan.  The headlights are from a 1929 Cadillac but have been rewired and reworked with new Mercedes style HID headlights and all wiring and ballast are concealed inside the larger than life 11" housings and both original glass lenses are intact and in great shape.  Front turn signals are flat black slotted motor cycle marker lights that were reworked to accept dual filament bulbs and operate now as both marker lights and turn signals.   The trucks bed started off life as a 1955 Ford F100.  It was shortened seven inches and then sectioned two inches to clear the custom frame as well as the larger than life rear dual wheels.  The tail gate was donated from a 1950 GMC pickup and then sectioned four inches to fit snugly into the F100 bed where it resides now and is fully functioning.  Tail lights at the rear of the bed are comprised of a set of 1927 Ford Model T headlight buckets that had a set of 1963 Ford Galaxies’ tail light lenses trimmed down to fit.  Lightening internals are a pair of red LED 1157 bulbs mounted in the reverse light portion of the lenses for marker lights while 5" Charger Red LED angel eye headlight rings illuminate the red surrounds for brake lights and turn signals.  The bed floor is a layer of 1/2 inch thick painted Plywood covered 100% by recycled and aged pallet wood and looks like a genuinely old bed floor.  On top of the bed floor is authentic antique oil can.  The fuel filler neck is hidden stealthily through the antique can and is accessed through the fully functional can screw on top.  That filler neck leads to a new aluminum 17 gallon fuel cell located under the bed floor and can be accessed either through the hinged and risible bed floor, or by lowering the functioning tail gate.   The cab of the truck is a real 1940 Ford steel cab that was 99% rust free before the build began despite its discovered location in the woods near our shop.  It was professionally chopped in house and completely reinforced after receiving a drastic 4.5 inch chop.  The fire wall is mostly original other than the massive under taking of filling all unnecessary holes.  The floors and center console are 100% handmade and custom bead rolled from front to back.  On each side of the center console, sections of the original 1940 seat risers were used. Atop the risers is a pair of custom covered 3/4 inch cabinet grade seat bolsters on which the 1940s style bomber seats are bolted to.  The seat bottoms were trimmed in black leather with brown Ostrich skin which matches the recovered original 1940 door access panels. The sound in the cab is designed to be stealth and is comprised of Kickers new Bluetooth amplified system.  The Kickers system automatically syncs to any iPad, iPod, iPhone, or any other phone or MP3 that is Bluetooth compatible.  The sound system is controlled by a 1.5x3 inch illuminated touch panel located to the right of the driver’s seat and flushed into the seat bolster.  The Kicker amp pushed two brand new 4" Power Acoustic speakers that are mounted behind the driver’s seat in a pair of real 1950s drive in movie speaker housings.  This was done so that there is no visible radio in the trucks amazing dash board.  The dash is from a 1953 Pontiac Chieftain and has the sought after clock upgrade in the center turbine.  The dash was sectioned 8 inches and molded to a perfect fit as if it had been there since 1940.  Other features in the cab include red LEDs illuminating the turbine clock surround and door operated hyper white LED courtesy lights to illuminate the floor during entry.  Hidden behind the fully functional and sectioned glove box door is the wiring nerve center, the fuse box of the new Easy Wire wiring harness. The cab has 100% new glass.  It was masterfully cut and installed by Wise Cracks Auto Glass in Mechanicsville, Va.  The truck was then treated to a flawless tint job all around including the windshield by New Wave Window Tint in Mechanicsville, Va.  The front windshield is a factory style split window and both door glasses are fully functional via the original 1940 restored window regulators.  All inside door handles are 1940 Ford truck handles, the outside door handles are 1929 DeSoto handles and are a good compliment to the 1950s Chrome and patina'ed large truck mirrors.  The real 1940s cab clearance lights have been completely reworked and have been fitted with new red globe lenses.  The truck also has functioning heat from a 1940s Arwin heater box and is controlled by a NOS 1940s heater control knob.  The steering wheel is an original 1953 Packard wheel in great shape that was hand fitted and fabricated to the 32" Ididit column which controls the brand new reverse corvair steering box.     The shifter in the truck is hand bent from a 1940 Ford Coupe and makes a great pedestal to the most epic shifter knob to have ever existed.  It is a 1 of 1 Orlock head made by monsterpappa.com and is the only shifter knob they have ever made.  The Orlock's detail and realistic appearance is a shop stopping crowd pleaser and will stay in the truck as the prized position of its new owner.   The most important part of this build is its drivetrain and heartbeat.  It gets its power from an 80k mile 1983 Mercedes 300D.  It is an inline 5 cylinder Mercedes Turbo Diesel and automatic transmission.  All drive train fluids are new and have less than 100 miles on them (oil, Transmission fluid, coolant, and rear SAE90 rear end fluid).  The motor also was refreshed with new oil filter, fuel filter and custom cold air intake filter.  It has all new glow plugs and transmission cooler lines.  It also received a new, lifetime warranty radiator and cap.  The radiator was a 1983 Mercedes 300d radiator that we had the extra ports filled and a new radiator cap neck installed by L&S Radiator in Richmond Virginia.  Fuel is supplied to the pump through 20ft of new, black, braided steel fuel line.   As you can see, this truck is no "thrown together" slop, but is a very carefully planned out and constructed, bad ass machine.  It has only been shown once at a benefit car show about two miles from our shop and the response was over whelming as it took Colonials pick Best in Show and has a very large crown the entire show.  This truck was built solely for the purpose of selling here.  We will NOT be showing this truck anymore.  Why?  Many times when buying a car or truck, the end user has to constantly put up with "is that so and son’s car or truck?"  NOT the case here.  Upon your purchase you will be the FIRST to show off and enjoy this ride.  It will be yours!  NOT someone else's old truck.  From start to finish, its construction time was approximately 9 months.  It was a very, very, very labor intensive build and is guaranteed to be like no other, but WILL be one that many TRY to copy.  Precision Street Rods, llc. has been professionally building cars for over a decade and is dedicated to the safety and happiness of our clientele.  We are a full custom fab shop, a professional welding shop, and fully staffed with mechanics that are literally able to repair every make and model car and truck on the market.  With this purchase you not only get an amazing ride, you get experience and knowledge like no other.  We greatly appreciate your time and consideration.  Thank you and GOOD LUCK!! --Update notice- the front exhaust stack was shortened about 12 inches for cosmetics. On May-09-15 at 21:57:24 PDT, seller added the following information: For more pics and some in action videos, check out our instagram @PSRLLC
