Vehicle Detail

1974 Honda CL200 scrambler in beautiful unmolested and un-restored original condition. CL200's were made only as 1974 models, making them some of the rarest of the vintage scramblers. I have owned this bike for almost 10 years, where most of that time it has sat under a cover in my shed. I purchased it from the family of the original owner. He used it mostly to ride to his favorite fishing hole and putt around the small town where he lived. It stayed in his garage for the first 30 years of it's life. This bike has never been farther than 50 miles from Muncie, Indiana, where it was originally purchased at Les Smith Motors in 1974. It still wears the original Les Smith key tag to this day. It starts, runs, rides, and operates as it should. Chrome is in excellent condition for an old Honda. Clutch cable was replaced 4 years ago. Oil has been changed yearly even though it has only been ridden a few miles per year. The carburetors were rebuilt three years ago. They could probably use a cleaning soon, but I haven't felt the need to do it yet. New points installed two years ago. New battery last summer. There are a few minor imperfections that come with an un-restored bike of this vintage. There are a couple of very small paint nicks, and one tiny ding in the tank that is almost invisible. The paint overall shows very nice due to being kept inside- there is no visible fading at all. The gauge faces are not faded either, rare for a 70's Honda. The original brake light has a crack in it that was repaired probably 30 years ago. I only mention it because it's there. There is very minor corrosion in the tank. It has never been cleaned, sealed, or lined. I replaced the original rusted out muffler six or seven years ago with another original used unit. It is just starting to "pfft-pfft" a little. It's barely noticeable and it doesn't bother me at all. The little round chrome cover for the horn is missing. There is some pitting on the exhaust head pipes, and the spokes, but the rest of the chrome is shiny and bright. The lights, signals, brakes and horn work fine. I will also include an original NOS gasket set for this bike that I sourced a few years back just in case I would happen to need it. It is still in it's plastic wrap. I have one of the original side covers for the pipe side, but it would need to be sanded and painted before use. I only have pieces of the right side cover. In the pictures I have a set of side covers that I made from a sheet of diamond plate aluminum. They are not perfect, but they get some attention at shows because of their uniqueness. You can do what you want with them. On the right side I installed the original CL200 badge. The only thing that may or may not need your attention is the tires- they are ORIGINAL. Although they still have tread on them, the sidewalls are checked. They should be replaced if you plan to ride a lot, but they hold air and look the part if you just plan to show. I have NO TIME TO RIDE anymore, that is the only reason I am selling. I have had several other 70's Hondas that I have bought and sold over the years, but I have always held on to this one because I really like it. However, with family commitments and changes with work, I can't stand just watching it sit there. Please ask your questions before you bid. I have written this listing as honestly as I possible can, but I am human and I may have missed something. Clean and clear Indiana Title in my name. Shipping is the SOLE RESPONSIBILITY of the BUYER. The bike will need to be picked up at my residence. I can help you load it onto a truck or trailer, but I do not have the time or ability to crate it or to load a crate. Thank you for understanding. If you wish to discuss details, please send me your phone number and I will call you at my earliest opportunity. DO NOT call me with offers to buy. Bid to win. There is no reserve on this auction. This is a no BS auction. Don't waste my time and I won't waste yours. The bike is located in Noblesville, Indiana, 30 minutes northeast of Indianapolis. Please look at a map if you intend to bid!
