Vehicle Detail
For sale is my 2003 Range Rover HSE. I know there are a few of these on ebay, but I'd be willing to bet that this one is one of the most well sorted available. I have neglected NOTHING when it comes to this truck, and will detail that in this description! I purchased this truck about two years ago, and then proceeded to address every common issue and maintenance item it required. I've wanted one of these (an L322) since they first came out in 2002. This was one of my dream vehicles, and I wanted to make sure it was up to par :) It took me 4 months to find the right one to buy, I didn't just buy the first one that came up. I had a list of criteria my ideal truck should have, and this one met it. In addition to being clean, black, and unmodified, the owner informed me it had had a re-manufactured transmission installed in 2010 by Lee Myles transmission in Scranton. For me, this was a big selling point as LR/BMW in their infinite wisdom listed the service interval for these at "Life", so they tended to be neglected and fail. I figured if I could get one that had been rebuilt in the past, I could keep up with the maintenance and not have any issues. That's exactly what I've done :) I have driven this truck for the past year and a half, and it has been completely trouble free. I can't say it will remain that way, but I can tell you that ANYTIME it needed repairs, or anything addressed. it was taken care of in a timely manner. I have been working on cars/trucks since I could walk, and take great care of my own vehicles. I personally would not hesitate to drive this truck ANYWHERE. The only reason it's being sold is because I replaced it with a newer model. It is absolutely loaded for the year, and everything works. Options: Front and rear park assist systemsAir suspension (4 position, manually and automatically adjustable)Variable rate power assist steering19" wheelsHeated front and rear seatsCold air conditioningAlloy wheelsNavigationDVD playback LeatherAll weather floormatsAll wheel drive One touch up/down power windows Sunroof Heated front and rear glassAnd I'm sure I missed a lot. This is a Range Rover, it's loaded. Below is all of the work I've done to the truck since I've owned it. I have receipts for most/all of the work, and the total is more than my asking price. Suspension work: New front struts and airbags (Arnott).Rebuilt air compressorNew inner and outer tie rods (Moog)New lower ball joints/control arms (Moog)New sway bar end links (Moog)New Alignment/Tires Brakes: Front rotorsRear rotorsceramic Akebon padsRear ebrake shoes and hardware kit Engine: Valve cover gasketsSandblasted/painted valve coversPCV valve/rear intake coverPCV line heaterPCV hosesFront timing cover gasketsTiming chain tensionerVanos solenoid sealsVanos NRV'sBrake booster vacuum hoseSparkplugs/coil bootsAir filter Common issues/General repairs New batteryRear wheel bearing (driver)Recent tiresFresh alignmentRecent oil changeFuel filterTransfer case motor replacedAll the seat trim replacedSilver Foundry trim stripped and painted trim black (it is very common for this to peel)Hill descent/4x4 low switch panel replaced (one of the switches was broken, necesitating replacement of the entire panel). Body control module replaced (Steering was heavy when not moving)Servo tronic solenoid replaced on the steering rack New wiper blades, one front wiper arm Rear wiper motorFront wiper cowl retaining pins (2 were missing). Steering wheel (Had excessive wear, heated function wasn't working). Instrument cluster repair (Display was faded, several bulbs for the backlight were out) Towing package was added, trailer lights are directly integrated into the vehicle with an OEM kit (380 dollars!) The front door panels have been replaced with UK spec Vogue panels. The US model panels use rubber armrests that tend to wrinkle and scrunch up (google it). This will never happen on mine! Modifications: At this point, you're probably curious as to why the truck looks like a 2006+ model. Well, I have a bit of a problem with leaving things the way they are. Once I run out of things to fix, I have to update. I replaced the entire front end with the 2006+ supercharged model. This includes the following: Front fenders: This conversion is very common, but noone replaces the fenders. Most people just cut lips off the front. While this looks fine, it was an uacceptable solution for me. I'd rather have unmodified OEM parts. Grille: OEM superchargedBumper: OEM supercharged, new grillesFoglightsWasher bottle/lines/hosesInner fenders: Most people trim the factory 2003-2005 inner fenders, but it leaves gaps. I'd rather use OEM parts than modified ones taht don't fit correctly. Headlights: OEM HID Xenon lights. Tailights: I purchased NEW OEM 2006+ Tailights. I liked the red lower of the non-SC models, so those are what I picked up. Wheels: It has OEM BMW E53 X5 wheels on it. I have the factory wheels, as well as a set of 2009 factory wheels. If the new owner wants, they can choose one of the spare sets to take in addition to the wheels on it :) The 2009 wheels have continental extreme contact DWS tires on them as well. Around this point I also replaced all the faded RANGE ROVER lettering on the front and back, as well as the front hood cowl. On the interior, I replaced the trim on the side of the seats as it was cracked and broken. I added brushed stainless sill panels, and repainted all the peeling factory trim with satin trim paint. It looks very clean. None of the seats are ripped, there are no stains or other major damage. The bad/ugly: Interior: There are a few very small areas where the headliner sags a touch (under/behind the visors) and a small burn above the drivers area (I don't smoke, previous owner must have). Exterior: This is a 12 year old truck, so it is not new, but it is in GREAT shape. There are a few scratches here and there. A small ding on the passenger rear tailgate, a small ding on the passenger side of the hood, and some rock chips here and there. The front fender has a small (1") ding as well. I'd rate it a 7.5/10. The paint still shines. The wheels have some minor scrapes/curb rash from earlier in their life. This never bothered me. Please see above, I have a few spare sets of wheels, the new owner can choose a spare set in addition to the ones shown! The truck has a BMW M62TU engine from the factory. They are a little noisy when warm. This one is less so than most, and has had the timing components replaced fairly recently. Nothing to fear :) It is a NorthEastern vehicle, so it is not spotless underneath. The body is solid. it is not rusted out, no rot, etc. The windshield has a crack in it, it has been repaired, but it is still visible. The heated windscreen has a few lines out ALL the way on the drivers side. It still works phenomenally. Other noteworthy points: The stock headunit has been replaced by a pioneer Avic D3 navigation unit. It works well, and has an ipod cable in the glovebox. I didn't install it, but I did add a PAC SWI-RC interface to maintain the factory steering wheel controls. In conclusion: I love this truck, and took great care of it. I know there are a few other ones fro sale, but I can tell you that noone CARED about theirs as much as I do. I know everything about it, and can answer any and all questions you might have. It is in VERY solid shape, and while not perfect, It still turns heads. I'd average 20mpg at 65 on the highway, generally 13-14 around town. The BMW sourced engine sounds great, and it has very healthy power. I hope the new owner appreciates it as much as I did! On May-03-15 at 22:14:34 PDT, seller added the following information: Also!! It has painted mirror caps and door handle covers (Java Black to match the factory paint) as well as LED signal/running lights in the rear bumper (in place of the factory reflectors), and smoked reverse/side marker lights. I have the factory reflectors/side markers if requested as well. Everything done is reversible. The windows are tinted as well.On May-03-15 at 23:54:11 PDT, seller added the following information: For some reason ebay's software made the pictures blurry. I can provide additional/better pictures. I had/have a buy it now of 9500, please inquire within with offers! Also open to interesting trades! The truck is still registered, test drives allowed. On May-04-15 at 00:03:47 PDT, seller added the following information: In addition to the standard Range Rover floor mats, the All weather factory mats are included.
