Vehicle Detail

This 1981 Chevy Malibu Classic was purchased new by my sister. She later traded it in on a new 1991 Lumina. When my Dad found out, he went back to the dealer and bought it back. The car was a factory 2 tone with black upper body and a light blue/green on the lower body. The black paint is still original, but Dad repainted the lower body. Not his best job, but he was 74 at the time. After he went through the car, he sold it to my In - Laws. My Father in Law had a stroke around this time and my Mother in Law learned to drive in this car. After my Father in Law passed away, the car didn't get driven enough and was parked in 1999. It remained garage kept until about 4 years ago. It was outside on concrete. It is now back in the garage. OK - now that you have the background and how the car got to this point I'll do my best to describe the car. The engine does not run. I'm sure the fluids all need changed as well as going through the brake system as you would with any car that has sat for 16 years. This 3.8 liter is not the Buick version, it is a Chevy 229 cubic inch version. I'm pretty sure the car would like you to do a LS swap. What a sleeper! The interior is surprisingly good for a 34 year old cloth interior. There is a tear on the driver seat on the side as if worn from entry/exit. I vacuumed, but it probably could use a good scrubbing. The carpet looks pretty stained. The only area that appears to have had any moisture is at the front of the door sill on the drivers door. The dash is in very good condition. The headliner has starting sagging, I guess due to all the activity and opening and closing the doors. Floors and trunk all solid. I see no rust through on the car. The passenger side rear view mirror appears to have received some body work. (The other car we will be listing has damage on that mirror also. Looks like someone was having trouble backing out of the garage.) The bumpers do not have any rust or dents that I noticed. Check out the pictures. E mail me if you would like to make appointment to view the car. No, grandma wasn't rolling on 14 x 7 Camaro Rallies with white letter tires. The tires on the car were bad from sitting. I had these wheels laying around so I donated them to get the car rolling. Car is sold as is - where is. No reserve so bid early and bid often! Thanks for looking! We will also be listing a 1990 Beretta, also a rust free car that has been sitting. On May-09-15 at 15:42:01 PDT, seller added the following information: I mentioned in my description that the driver seat is worn from entry/exit. That was my mistake. The 1990 Beretta that we will be listing has that issue. This car does not have any tears in any of the upholstery. The original seats look very good on this 1981 Malibu. A few people have asked about the rear frame rails and I took some pictures and I can e-mail them to anybody the wants. I may try to replace some of my pictures in the ad to show there is no worries there. Most of the frame still has the factory undercoat on it.
