Vehicle Detail
This is a BMW K1, the Iconic motorcycle that has changed a lot of what BMW represented. This was one of 2 unique motorcycles that BMW made that really helped them alter the course of the company. The K1 is the latest and the other is the R90S. This was my daily rider for many years. I have always enjoyed riding the bike, and still do. When I stored it I noticed that it holds a line very well and takes the bumps with ease. It was BMW’s attempt at a gentleman’s sport bike. It was not the fastest, but it is long lasting and is good on trips. The best I have gotten is 62 MPG (following a group of Gold Wings) but I normally get about 42-45 MPG. Due to BMW’s self imposed HP limit for the years that it was made it is 95 HP. I have replaced the Chip, but have the stock chip stored. I also have a Remus after market exhaust on it and I have the original exhaust as well. It also has a Corbin seat and I will add the stock seat to the buyer. I have the European headlight switch so you can run with total off, parking lights, or full lights. I used to have the Radar detector connected to the parking light which would give me the opportunity to turn it on and off quickly (in case I went to Canada). It has the cooling update added. The bike is good but not perfect. It never had the K1 lettering on the side. I do have the full luggage for the bike with rain covers. With any bike this age and being ridden there has been work done. Drive shaft replaced at about 48,000 miles (BMW picked up some of the cost as K1's had drive shaft problems). The drive shaft is now the K1200 drive shaft, at least this is what they told me. I have replaced fork seals when they were weeping. I now have Gator covers and have not had a problem. Rear shock went and I can't remember what I replaced it with. Full tools and manual come with it. And I replaced the radiator last years as it started leaking. No engine work has been done as this engine is very solid.
