Vehicle Detail

*Seller's note: If you are concerned about not being able to see the "slight mar" on the fuel tank please see the close up photo, then scroll over the main photo of the left side of the bike to magnify that part of the tank. Do you see a "dent"? I don't. It is there but so insignificant it is invisible from 3 feet away. "An eccentric naked bike like this is not for everyone. This Rockster is built for people who are attracted to a vicious image, yet deep down really want something civil and sophisticated. And if that's what you're looking for then this Rockster will put a big smile on your face!" from MCS Review- Greg Sanchez What you see here is a near perfect original owner 17,402 mile BMW Rockster ready for anything. Part of the rare BMW 80th Anniversary Rockster models of an excellent, pampered, senior-owned low-miles bike in 98% showroom condition. Service and upgrades were performed by BMW dealers and retired Ferrari tech original owner more often and more completely than factory spec and with full synthetic lubes. Last full service was 400 miles ago at 17,000 mi. There are very few really good Rocksters available. If you are interested in a high grade Rockster with proven records of increasing value now would be the time before prices get out of reach of the average enthusiast. If you are hip to Rocksters, an investor/collector, or savvy about BMWs you already know the rich and exciting experience they truly are. **ALL original tools, bags, owner's manuals, everything that came with the bike new, along with the model-specific Clymer workshop manual, BMW Factory Manual on CD, service videos, complete service records and receipts are included. Buying or selling you need to know actual prices paid for an item. Actual paid prices for high quality Rocksters have been going up in the last year and a half. View actual prices paid on "PriceHub" ~ the only resource that shows real prices paid from real BMW transactions. Mouse over the bar chart at the bottom of the PriceHub page you will see that in the last 6 months 4 transactions sold in the $5,000 range, 26 transactions sold in the $7,500 range, 17 sold in the $10,000 range, 14 in the $12,500 range and higher. Also see real-world prices on the "Total Motorcycle Buyer's Guide" site. email me for links or look it up to prove for yourself. If you look at NADA or KBB price estimates READ THE FINE PRINT on their sites, price estimates are based on an age and average mileage formula that have nothing to do with actual prices paid. Kelly Blue Book says average yearly mileage for a motorcycle is 5,000 to 6,000 miles per year. Prices for model year 2004 bikes is computed for bikes with 55,000 to 66,000 miles. This Rockster has only 17,400 miles. NADA is used by many dealers to justify low trade-in values. You will notice they may NOT use it to price bikes they are selling! If you price an exceptional quality bike like this on NADA or KBB valuations, examples of sub-par, high-mileage, multiple owner, or questionably maintained bikes you're just kidding yourself. Cheap "Fixer-uppers" are money-pits if you actually fix them up. BMWs are tough, reliable and reasonable to operate ~ when properly maintained. Otherwise a lesser example, as many have learned the hard way, can drain your bank faster than a supermodel in a bikini. **Upgraded BMW cam chain tensioner is installed! This is an essential upgrade very rarely done by owners of these bikes! The original tensioner can break the guide which will destroy the engine. Email me for BMW tech videos about this. Be very wary of any period R bike that has not had this upgrade installed early in it's life!** Available separately or installed is the as-new Leo Vince carbon fiber muffler and Wunderlich stainless collector box with less than 1200 miles. Unlike the aftermarket "Y" pipe the very rare Wunderlich "Professional Collector Box" in combination with the muffler improves performance, reduces weight by 33 pounds and eliminates backfires. Add $650 (new cost was nearly $1,200). The only non-stock items on the bike are LED front turn signals, a front fender extender and Wunderlich rear inner splash guard. See my other ebay listings for optional accessories that may still be available for this bike. Contact me with any questions and for links to PriceHub, Total Motorcycle Buyer's Guide, cam chain tensioner videos, and the youtube video of this particular bike. There are also many reviews, articles and videos of Rocksters online. This bike is in Tucson AZ. Shipping assistance may be provided. DETAILS:To give you an idea of the many details taken care of on this bike, BMW over-tightened zip ties, this can result in electrical wire insulation to wear through and short out. Every over-tight zip tie has been replaced with UV ties at the correct tightness. Every inch of this bike is white-glove spotless top to bottom. ALL lubricants, brake and clutch fluids have been changed every 3,000 miles or less with full synthetic lubricants and BMW hydraulic fluid. There is only 402 miles on the last FULL service. Every external moving part is disassembled, cleaned and lubed regularly at least every 2 years. Bottom line ~ If you want a virtually as-new, low-miles, rigorously maintained, recently serviced, Rockster ~ this is it. The really good ones left in the US are going away mostly to Europe, NZ, AU, Asia, being bought by sophisticated aware investors and collectors. This is a "driver's bike" that professional auctioneer, broker and dealer valuations place in the mid to high $5,000 range and rising. Due Diligence pays off. Your choice. Invest in any good Rockster or other item rising in value, or spend your money away on a depreciating item. Either way enjoy and have good times! Basic Specs: Cost of operation per mile $0.41 ~ fuel, insurance, maintenance & repairs, upgrades, all costs (documents available).
