Extremely rare body type. For sale is my 1972 double sliding door panel van. Sliding doors on both sides in good working condition. It's a Kombi model built as a commercial vehicle by VW. The front seat is full width, 3 passenger, non walk through bench seat. The photos I've taken are intended to show it's attributes as well as it's flaws. The engine is a 2000cc with hydraulic lifters which was retrofitted from a 1978 fuel injected bus in 94. It is in good running condition. Tires are in excellent condition (aprox. 90% tread). Besides the upgraded engine the van also has a tachometer, oil pressure gauge, head temp gauge and oil temp gauge. Oil pressure at normal running temperature is about 30lbs. Additionally, there is an Amzoil external oil filtration system which keeps the oil like new between changes. This engine has always run fully synthetic oil since installed. I am the third owner of this van. It was originally imported by and for the use of an Idaho VW dealer in 1972. It was purchased from that dealer in 1973 by one of the shop's mechanics. I purchased the van from him around 1985. The importing dealer gave the underside a rust resistant undercoat so the frame/undercarriage is in excellent condition. As you can see in the photos there are rust considerations elsewhere. It was also outfitted with a trailer hitch by the dealer. It's location history is approximately: 1972-1976 - Idaho 1976-1993 - California 1993-2011 - Minnesota (driven summers) 2011-present - California (retains current Minnesota plates) The van is located in Vista, California (near San Diego).
