Vehicle Detail

Please read the WHOLE listing. Please be thorough, carefully look at the photos, and ask specific questions. This Jeepster has been featured in several photoshoots and turns heads wherever it goes! We have already fixed and worked on a lot to get this Jeepster running and driveable! I sometimes drive it around Madison and Huntsville. You may have seen it at the Lowe Mill Arts Ccnter. CHECK out my LOCAL LISTING on CRAIGSLIST Video:      The Vehicle is FOR SALE locally. Highest eBay bid WINS unless I get an offer >4500 locally. I will try to share everything to my knowledge good & bad about the Jeepster so there are no surprises. I am not mechanic so my knowledge is limited. The good: it runs, drives, stops, lights work, gears work, horn works, speedo and temp gauges work, premium offroad tires, new fuel filter, new alternator, newer premium radiator, recent tune up and service, recent brake restoration, modern stereo system, most original badges are present, new fuel line, *trialing new electric fuel pump, inspected by several mechanics. The Bad: Spots of rust 'cancer' on top+tub+frame completely through (nothing critical and could be reinforced if serious offroading), some patches/floor pans placed on top of rusty areas/vs cutting out, weak steering linkage with suspension lift, mild fluid seepage from various seals, broken gas gauge, home spray paint job, gear whine when accelerating (maybe synchros?), v̶a̶p̶o̶r̶ ̶l̶o̶c̶k̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶w̶h̶e̶n̶ ̶h̶o̶t̶ ̶o̶u̶t̶s̶i̶d̶e̶ ̶(̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶m̶o̶d̶e̶r̶n̶ ̶g̶a̶s̶+̶e̶t̶h̶a̶n̶o̶l̶ ̶m̶i̶x̶ ̶v̶a̶p̶o̶r̶i̶z̶e̶s̶ ̶s̶o̶o̶n̶e̶r̶ ̶t̶h̶a̶n̶ ̶p̶u̶r̶e̶ ̶g̶a̶s̶o̶l̶i̶n̶e̶)̶ *playing with a fuel pump to try to fix this, old line-x on the interior tub, vintage drum brake setup (new parts & refurbished though!). Many of these issues are normal for a car of this age without a full, frame off restoration. If you are just looking for a farm/backroads runabout, then this is basically ready to go! It would need work for a full restoration or daily driver. I do not have the skills to do it myself or the resources to hire someone else to do the work. Steps I would recommend to improve driving immediately for a runabout: Brakes + steering: Swap front axle with narrow track 1970s CJ w/ Disc Brakes and improve linkage V̶a̶p̶o̶r̶ ̶L̶o̶c̶k̶i̶n̶g̶:̶ ̶M̶o̶v̶e̶ ̶F̶u̶e̶l̶ ̶L̶i̶n̶e̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶a̶d̶d̶ ̶e̶l̶e̶c̶t̶r̶i̶c̶ ̶f̶u̶e̶l̶ ̶p̶u̶m̶p̶.̶ Roof Rack costs +$100 (helps to lift top off jeep). A vehicle this rare deserves a Restoration. I have sourced some parts if you need help for the restoration process. Fully restored, these things are worth $20,000-25,000 on average. Specs & More Info C101 The Jeepster Commando was first produced by Kaiser Jeep in 1966 to compete with the International Scout, Toyota Land Cruiser and Ford Bronco. The design was based on the CJ6 (many parts are interchangeable). The Kaiser line remained in production until about 1969, when American Motors Corporation (AMC) bought Kaiser in 1970. The Jeepster is an ancestor of the modern Jeep family produced by Chrysler. A total of 57,350 Kaiser-spec "C101" Jeepster Commandos were sold between 1966 and 1971. This 1968 Jeepster Commando ("C101") has the 160 horsepower Buick Dauntless V6 'oddfire' engine which was optional and preferred, with its 235 lb·ft of torque. Transmission: T14 Manual 3 speed. 2h, 4H, 4Low transfer Case (all work). Manual Locking Hubs Suspension lift Our History with the Jeepster: We sadly have to say goodbye to ole Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. We were able to teach some good lessons to the kiddos about life with this Jeepster. We were planning on using the Jeepster as a show vehicle and daily driver for our family business. Although it looks great in pics, we were unfortunately lied to about the true condition when we first bought it off Ebay. It was sold to us as a 'fully restored' daily driver, only needing a paint job. I paid close to $10,000. Long story short, it turned out to be a half hearted, home brew job. It was not running or even safe to drive. Unfortunately, there is no eBay buyer protection for vehicles older than 10 years old...Please keep this in mind when buying on Ebay. You have NO protection once money changes hands on vehicles over 10 years old. It is what it is, so we buckled down and learned about this old Jeep. We have now moved off of our farm and have different needs which requires us to sell the Jeepster. Thanks for looking! UPDATE UPDATE:  I used it as my daily driver from Thanksgiving until Christmas. The Jeepster IS in running driving condition. There was an oil cooler gasket leak. I waited longer  than expected for the right part to arrive (I am sure all you motor heads understand that). I did not want it driven until the gasket was fixed. Due to this delay, I REPOSTED the auction so that people have the chance to look at it and drive it around. I am also playing around to see if I can get an electric fuel pump to work well. I am sorry about the inconvenience. On Feb-02-15 at 13:34:21 PST, seller added the following information:      UPDATE:The new gasket finally arrived and was installed. However another gasket started leaking. According to the mechanic, a piston ring may be bad which might be allowing pressure into the engine, causing the gaskets to leak. To resolve the issue, you are looking at either rebuilding the engine or swapping it out (small block chevy is very popular, check out this Slick Commando >Here). I believe honesty is important. I want you to know exactly what you are getting. Thanks for looking! On Feb-02-15 at 20:22:10 PST, seller added the following information: I received word that the Craigs list post and videos are not working properly. Here they are again. Video 1 Video 2 Craigs list PostOn Feb-07-15 at 11:20:13 PST, seller added the following information: I just added photos for a specific bidder wanting to see specific areas closer. It includes a look at the side rail, top of windshield, and from top of new floor pan + from bottom of old floor pan.
