Here at Surf City Garage we maintain more than 90 muscle cars in our collection. We have owned this Pontiac for more than 12 years. The first OPEC oil shortage had hit, gas prices were higher but many still wanted the performance of a GTO. It was a crazy year… Richard Nixon resigned the presidency, People Magazine published its first issue and the Mustang II was named car of the year… Yes, the Mustang II …. And it was the end of the original GTO era….. We’re offering a 1974 GTO with less than 72,000 original miles. Painted in the original Denver Gold with saddle vinyl interior as verified by PHS. It’s a shaker hood car with Ram Air!!! The car is equipped with the original matching number 350ci engine topped with a 4bbl carb & ram air induction mated to a Muncie 4 speed w/ Hurst shifter driving a posi-traction rear end. Watch all of the performance from the factory installed gauge package. Before our purchase the car was repainted in the correct factory color but the years haven’t treated the clear coat well and it’s pealing in a number of places. There are some small nicks and bumps here and there, a small dent in the right door and rear panel (maybe paintless dent removal) and a couple of small paint bubbles. It’s dry in California and the bubbles haven’t grown while in our care. The undercarriage only show some surface rust just as any car of this era would. The interior is good and although not shown in the pictures the right, inside door panel will be installed in the car before delivery. Not only is it “The last of the originals” it has the factory options to make this a great driver with a bit of effort a supper hot rod with a true GTO as the base. Where else can you get ram air and a shaker hood at this price? It’s the real deal and we can provide the PHS documents to prove it. The factory wheels were upgraded to real Cragar wheels.
