1981 Volkswagen Rabbit 1.6l Diesel Truck Caddy MK1 VW 5 Speed Manual Selling an 1.6 Diesel Vw Caddy. Engine was replaced with a 1.6L later model engine.(12mm head bolts) Engine work includes the following: (work was done over two years ago) Rebuilt cylinder head head gasket head bolts water pump New fuel Filter glow plugs Air filter Timing Belt thermostat Rear brake line Rear brake wheel cylinder Cosmetically this truck is a 5 out of 10 The paint job is amateur and the drivers fender has been damaged. No major rust that i have found, California Car Tailgate, doors, windows all function normally. Interior has also been modified, looks like the previous owner dyed the door panels and dash blue/black. New TMI carpet and seats out of a Cabriolet. Functionally this truck is 9 out of 10 Engine fires up and runs every-time, no leaks or major problems. (does not overheat in traffic) High Mileage well maintained 1.6l diesel 5 speed Manual Transmission shifts smooth in all gear no grinds or slips. Clutch might need to be replaced soon, I have a feeling the pressure plate springs are week(truck has excessive slop on flat ground) Original A/C equipped vehicle however A/C pump is not included. Running and tail lights are working, windshield wiper switch might need to be replaced. Gas Gauge is not accurate Odometer is not functioning accurate mileage, speedometer does work. Good running farm duty truck, or restoration candidate. Loves driving on the freeway and sips the gas. Clear Title and Pink Slip in Hand.
