Vehicle Detail

1969 Chevrolet Camaro RS-SS Z10 Pace Car coupe: American Icon The quintessential version of the quintessential American car. An RS/SS hardtop Pace Car. To learn more about the Z10s, read this article at Camaro Research Group (cut and paste, then hit "go" on your address bar): http://www.camaros.org/69pacer.shtml#Z10 Drive train Engine is a non-matching 350 that runs great. Lopey cam, 4 tube headers, Dave’s Small Body HEI. Aluminized dual exhaust with performance mufflers. Engine is missing brackets for A/C components but they are available from the reproduction houses. Transmission: Turbo 350 with shift kit. Rear: 3.23 Posi 12 bolt. Interior: Data plate shows it originally had white standard interior. Now has orange and black houndstooth, orange deluxe door panels. One place on driver’s seat where some threads have broken. All belts in place. Console with gauges, working. Body and Paint: Body is believed to be the original sheet metal except for top/front header panel, and is very nice. Gaps line up nice; no waves. Very solid floors and trunk. Paint is very nice recent (2012) repaint, with only thing holding it back one chip above the rear passenger wheel. Hugger Orange stripes over Dover White; this scheme is correct only for the Z11s and Z10s. There are some shots showing reflections in the paint so you could see how good the paint is. Base coat/clear coat and of course the stripes (correct only for Z10s, Z11s, and Z28s) are painted on under the clear. Wheels and tires: 15 inch Rallys with 235/60/15s in front and 255/60/15s Goodyear GT II’s. Tires have lots of tread. I believe these are the original wheels but I have not checked the codes. Overall impression and miscellaneous thoughts: All in all, a very, very nice car that you can be proud to own. Beautiful inside and out. Fast, but not king of the dragstrip fast. An excellent and comfortable about-town and highway cruiser, with enough torque to snap your neck and “chirp” on the upshifts. Tight, solid, straight, and true down the highway. When I buy one of these old cars, I always ask “can I drive it home?” With this one, you probably could. Your gas mileage won’t be great though. I also ask “why are you selling?” In this case, it’s to make room for another car. I picked this one to sell because it is ready to go, and because I’m really a Pontiac guy. I think you’ll like this car, and I want you to be happy having purchased it, because it deserves to be loved and taken care of for many years to come. Also, life is too short and complicated as it is for me to have to deal with an unhappy buyer. So if the car is not as described upon inspection at my premises, there’s no risk; keep your money and keep looking for the car that is perfect for you. But I also want room in the garage, and closure, so there are no guarantees of any kind with the car, and once it leaves my premises, there can be no returns. If, after reading all this, and looking at all the pictures on photobucket, you still have questions, call me between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. CDT at 512-426-2809. Thanks, and happy hunting. Chris.
